Dog tested positive for heart worms, season over:(

Hope the pup gets better, as far as the treatment, I used to work at a vet in high school and 95% of the cases we treated the animal bounced back like nothing had ever happened. Also back then some companies would pay for treatment if your animal tested positive and had been on the preventative...

    New Browning Maxus Hunter

Zeb, I think $999 is a good deal. I bought the Maxus Hunter in 3" and paid right at $1,200 out the door and that was the cheapest I was able to find. If I am thinking right the Stalker model is the synthetic, but the cheapest I found those when I was looking was about $1,100. So sounds like...

No Birds, but Had a Blast

We went and hunted the Hays area over Thanksgiving and the day after. Mainly a recon trip since we have never hunted that area. We saw a few birds, but didn't get any. Talked to a lot larger groups and they did not have much luck either, so I didn't feel so bad. Even though we came home...

    As the Time Passes

I was doing some scouting on Google Earth for my upcoming trip to Kansas, and thought, this is a good way to make a 12 hour graveyard shift fly by. Not as good as being there, but I guess its the closest I will get until Thursday.

    Taco Johns

If any of you ever make it down to Texas, have a stop-and-go burrito from the good ole establishment of Allsups gas stations. Your travels will be delayed for about an hour and you will need an IV to get all the fluids back you will use. Just speaking from first hand experience.

    Where to go

jeffstally, We are hunting that area over Thanksgiving, I will let you know how it goes. We are hunting all walk-in hunting. I have read that the walk-ins are getting hammered, so the previous post boosted the morale quite a bit.

    Public Service Announcement

KCWIEM, That is what I am planning on doing. This is my first upland dog I have trained, and it is certainly different than training duck dogs, so it has taken some getting used to. The dog has to have fun before he will make a good gun dog, so the plan this trip is just to let him roll and...

    Public Service Announcement

I should of said this before, but he is obiedience trained and has been on pen raised birds and has done great. However, I have seen young dogs kind of loose their head and need to be reeled back in. Hopefully we will have a great hunt. It is going to be fun either way.

    Public Service Announcement

I agree, its no fun listening to a guy that thinks he is a dog trainer yelling and whistling at his dog all day. On the other hand, I have a 8 month old Brittany and next week will be his first pheasant hunt, so there might be some loud words coming from me, but it will just be my father, the...

Anyone planning a trip to KS

From what I have read, your best chances are to stay west of Salina. Kansas Parks and Wildlife post a bird forecast on their website that could narrow your choices depending. Also they have the Hunting Atlas so you can get to the WIHA's where ever you are hunting. Alot of guys on here have...
