    controlled burn

I was up there in late March, snow was off, would have burnt fine then and probably would be good nesting cover by now. Would have been a safer more controlled burn with less risk of spreading then too given the current moderate drought conditions. Haymaker is correct, better options were...

Awesome, awesome awesome, I just returned from an ice fishing trip in the prairie pothole region of North Dakota. Every sportsman should spent some time in the prairie pothole region during the first big melting warm up, the waterfowl spectacle is amazing, the pictures are beautiful but the...

    All you Lab Guys

I agree with KwickLabs, I have a 55 lb female and a 60 lb male, they handle the multi-day upland hunts much better than my old 75 lb male. They handle the heat better, stay fresher longer on the big walks, recover for the next day with more spring in their step and suffer far fewer pad problems...

    Pheasant survey is out

Pheasant hunting will always be cyclical dependent on winter weather, spring hatch weather, commodity prices, politics and the resulting Farm Bill. Thankfully it sounds like SD will have plentiful birds this year, ND should have enough. There are a great many folks public and private working...

Here we are - the best time of the year

Landman, your right on, I ran the labs in the fields this morning as it was finally cool enough, they were bouncing off the walls when I put the chaps on. They ran into one family group of pheasants and were wild eyed with excitement at the flush. We've been working all summer on drills and...
