    16 ga. Ammo

I am curious "uplandlife" you would not by chance be that Hevishot salesman that was pushing you product on this forum a few years ago would ya? I looked at all of your posts and you always seem to redirect the discussion onto Hevishot...you seem 'sketch' to me buddy. All of us would probably...

    16 ga. Ammo

I do use the B&P F2 in #7 shot up here in MI for grouse in the 2nd barrel, early part of season use a #8 shell then a #7 1/2 in the first barrel. You can tell the difference between the #7 and the #7 1/2 and #8 when bringing down grouse, it kills them. Not sure where everyone is hunting...

    #6 bismuth combo load?

My 2 cent opinion- lived in NE KS for 15yrs and a mixed bag was always happening. I carried a double barrel (O/U) and in the first barrel would put 7.5 skeet load and the second barrel #5 or #4 magnum load (all shells 2 3/4). If a pheasant got up I would hit him with both barrels if necessary...

    Upcoming cold weather

This was the conclusion my brother and I have come to as well, in regards to going out there in NOV when weather better and crops out of field. We were talking about how the weather was when we were out there, but after traveling 14 plus hrs you are gonna hunt no matter what. Same thing happens...

    Upcoming cold weather

Just got back from Winner region. Arrived Sun afternoon, took off Wed am, cut 2 days off the trip due to weather. Mind you I am not opposed to hunting the extreme (from Northern MI) but conditions were tough...mainly for dogs. Ambient temp was 7-9* with winds 20-30MPH (per weather channel). Dogs...

    Heading North

Hi Marsh- I have not hunted one of the GEMS areas as of yet so if you have looking for a "IMHO" here. What are they like compared to just going on regular state land? Guess I have been skeptical of their value given how much land we have available here to hunt pats/woodcock. Or is the state...

Most tragic story of destroyed gun

So was looking at recent posts for most favorite guns to hunt with and one person mentioned what happened when he forgot to put his gun away after the hunt. That got me thinking of us trying to top the other's story of most tragic way they lost a gun i.e. destroyed, broken, damaged. Mine-...

    Extra Rossa MAX 28ga 1 1/16oz

I have not tried the 28ga Rio's but I do like the Rio line overall for other gauges...thinking the Rio bizmuth 28ga loads may be fun for teal or close up pheasants in areas where non-tox required. One other option to consider in the 28ga is RST. They make a load with #7 shot and there again...

    Extra Rossa MAX 28ga 1 1/16oz

consider looking at the Polywad "Gram Crak-R" it is a 20gram load that comes in #6 and #7 1/2. I live in Northern MI and use on Ruffed Grouse have also shot 2 Sharptails in the UP (limited season here) and works really well, has buffer that helps the shot string (IMHO) here is the website-...

    What quail in Montana?

CA quail in MT huh? Just what you guys need...another species of bird to be able to hunt! Not trying to sound critical but how could they say the CA quail is invasive when it is native to North America? Chukers and pheasant it seems would be more the invasive species type. Hope you guys get a...

    Barn pigeons

I agree with the homing pigeon idea and would do myself just not at a point where i can put a coop up (yet). A guy I know does the same with homers but then he does go out and gets feral birds to shoot when the time comes at that point in the training and not have to sacrifice his homers.
