    Thoughts on 2021 in Missouri

Same here, hunt all over, Oklahoma, Kansas, South Dakota, Nebraska, haven't hunted Iowa in 20 years, but might this year. Crazy thing is, we probably do best in Missouri. Just because its easy to concentrate on spots we know quite well. Speaking quail of course. Make a pheasant trip once a year...

    2013-2014 Season Results

I kept track of hunts this year. Out of 15 days I remembered to document, we killed a grand total of 38 quail in missouri this year. Keep in mind lots of days there was 2 of us hunting. Not great. At the same time, I don't go after singles much. I think we found about 16 different covey this...

    Northwest

Just got back from 2 and half day hunt. Had what I call a good day Friday, killed two roosters and 6 quail. Three dogs, 3 guys. Saturday went to different area that looked great, they were having a youth deer hunt so we hunted 2 hours and pulled out. No bird contact. Today went to an outstanding...

    Quail hunters roll call

Matt from Missouri here. Been lurking on here for a few years. Very much like the pheasants and dearly love the quail. I've raced cars, bow hunted hard, turkey hunted, you name it, but their ain't been nothing beats a covey rise over good dog work. I guess I'm a little simple minded.

    Sunday afternoon quail hunt

Rough Sunday hunt 3 guys, 5,what I consider above average dogs, made a huge circle on my hotspot Sunday. I knew where 5 coveys were last year at end of season at this place. We never found a bird. I can't figure it out. Even if scent conditions were awful, we should have at least bumped a...

    opening weekend, where u going

Prairie Will be headed to prairie ground due to the fact it's shotgun only for deer. Had a rather heated encounter with a pissed off dad on my usual public hotspot a couple years ago. He had trouble understanding the definition of public so I explained it. Have yet to run into youth deer...

Anyone seeing any quail in Mo

Saw the forecast was cool weather so loaded up dogs and headed to the prairie this morning. Found 2 covey. One large covey of adults. Dogs must have busted the other as I was only finding singles out of it. Young birds could barely fly. Thought that was odd. Had a blast nonetheless. Tried to...

Anyone seeing any quail in Mo

Quail Got up nice covey of adults tonight while dove hunting in a spot I have never in ten years seen quail. Cleared area about 3 years ago. Got up a covey of juveniles about two weeks ago while exercising dogs by gravel road in same area. The land on and around that area was not farmed this...

    Pay to play

Just spent the day hunting around Aberdeen on the same private we always do. All day, 1 shot, 3 guys, 1 bird. Did see a few hens, thank god. Thinking about paying an access fee on a place we saw birds. Never thought I would say that.

    any good news on birds

Been out several times. Got a couple hotips on a new spot I had never hunted. Hunted hard all day and found a covey at the end of the day on a different place alltogether that looked terrible. First place looked outstanding. On the bright side my go to spots have been better than the last few...

    Getting quail points?

Had a little rain last night. Birds held today better than they have all season. Garmin said my big runner was stopped 900 yards out. Figured he had a deer carcuss. By time I got there his butt and tail were straight up and he was rested on his elbows with a nice covey holdin tight. Hilarious

Only seen one bird so for

You said it. This should be the year. If not, i wont burn any more or less shoeleather than before. In theory this should be a good year for Missouri. I have not had the dogs out on a serious hunt yet. A lot of the coveys i hunt have been there for 20 years anyway. Cant wait to see if new birds...
