Cut down dogs back. Need advice on treating

First off Im not sure where to post this so I came to my normal spot here in the Kansas forum. I can post it elsewhere if I need to. I Hunted all day today and had a pretty good day up until about 4:30. Shot a pheasant that went sailing into the next field and my one year old took off to...

    Garmin Alpha/TT15 Tips and Tricks

Best purchase I've made for bird hunting period. No more searching for a dog on point that you can't see in heavy cover. No more wondering where/what they are doing, it's all right there in real time in the palm of your hand. Beeps when they go on point, tells you if they are running...

    Cold Weather and Dog Vests

I probably used the wrong terminology when I posted and may have misrepresented the reason I was considering some sort of vest/skid plate for my dogs. For me its about protecting them from injury, not coddling them or trying to get them to hunt in cold weather. Cold weather doesn't bother them...

    Cold Weather and Dog Vests

Im hunting tomorrow and it looks like its gonna be 0 degrees in the morning. Ive never really put any thought into using vests for my dogs because theyve always gone full tilt no matter what the temp has been. But last year their chests got super raw after hunting ting after an ice storm and...

Mixed bag? Hutch or clay center?

+1. Hunted the Clay Center area and saw hunters at the first 3 WIHA spots I drove by. Finally found an opening and before I could even get out of the truck a guy pulled up next to me to see if I was coming or going. That area was chock full of hunters the day I tried to hunt it.

    Looking for some new boots

Mine are Danner High Grounds that I found on sale at Cabelas a couple of years ago. I think I paid 110-120 for them? Ive put miles upon miles upon miles on these boots and they're holding up great. Kept my feet dry when they probably shouldnt have I know that much. I put some dr scholls in...

    New to NE Kansas

Welcome neighbor. I also live in Lawrence and have hunted this area since the late 80s/early 90s. As many have mentioned, the pheasant #s around here are slim to none, especially compared to what it was back then. But the good news is the quail numbers are getting better. Do you have dogs...

    NORTHWEST to CENTRAL KANSAS?

You'll be just fine...I say go for it. The "minimum maintenance" roads are the ones to watch out for. Normally they are posted but not always.

    NORTHWEST to CENTRAL KANSAS?

Roads are completely tore up and the birds are all gone. I wouldnt even bother.... But seriously its hard to say cause the conditions change so much around here. As long as the roads are frozen you should be fine. Not much snow yet this year.

    Muck Boots

The first pair of boots I was given as a kid was a pair of mucks that Santa clause brought me. Used to coon hunt in em all the time and they treated me well. But I have some back problems now and wearing mucks for too long seems to make my back hurt. I can walk in my Danners all day and not...

Whats the plan for the weekend?

Havent been out for 2 weeks now (WIHA have been PACKED with rifle hunters) and I and the dogs are going CRAZY!! We are heading out tomorrow, and Friday. Hoping to also get some waterfowl in this weekend, depending on how upland goes. If upland goes well (hunting some new areas) then waterfowl...
