Truck cap or no truck cap? Pros and Cons

I recently put a Leer topper on my 2004 Silverado. Couldn't be happier with that decision. It was a used model with sliding side windows and it protects my dog when she's back there in her crate. I also have a fan setup so it runs off the trailer hitch plugin and keeps the temp down during...

    Benelli 828U

I purchased an 828U late in the season last year and couldn't be happier. I spent some of the winter shooting it at the gun club and also shot trap with it this summer. The first couple of shots were a little surprising - kicked pretty good, but I wasn't prepared. Now that I've put a quite a...

    Tick control

I've been using Frontline on my past two dogs with good success. I hadn't used any yet this year, but I found one on my cocker last weekend already - so the Frontline went on later that day. Other then that one - never had a tick on her after 4 years of hunting all year round.

    22 cal semi auto pistols???

I picked up a used Ruger SR22 at Gander Mountain and it's great. No jams and it's accurate for a small handgun. I own 3 other Rugers so obviously I like the brand.

Shot size for pen raised birds

Better make sure that they don't require steel shot. Two of the preserves I go to require non-lead of some sort. If that is the case, I would suggest #4 in basic steel.

    Best Applications for Hunting

I use this app on my iPhone and have for a couple years now. Not cheap, but during the season, I use it all the time. I turn the app on and drive around looking for new WMA and walk-in areas to try. Very accurate maps and like was mentioned, it shows who owns all the land too so I can ask if...

    Benelli O/U

Friday I went to a gun shop in southern Minnesota and saw the 828U for the first time in person. Yeah it was a little pricey, but not really compared to other nice O/U's on the market. I picked it up and immediately noticed the lightness and how good it felt. I had a few "extra" guns to trade...

    The dangers of conibear traps

You have talked over and over about people being in areas where they shouldn't be and trespassing. What about people that are hunting legally on PUBLIC land? I fully understand the need for trapping - I really do, and I value your rights to do that which you enjoy. My problem is that I don't...

    The dangers of conibear traps

FCspringer stated -The 220 is the most humane trap - meaning that it does it's job quickly - in other words, it is made to kill that animal caught quickly. So, a hacksaw would do little good if the 220 was really that humane. I wish I could say more about the second part of your post, but it...

    The dangers of conibear traps

OK - I will be civil with my response so it doesn’t get deleted. First off - this is not a new situation. I have found references to this type of discussion concerning an article in the Pioneer Press 5 years ago, so it hasn’t just come up. In response to fcspringer’s comments - Why not keep...

You can also go online at the Minnesota DNR website and find the compass section. It will show you all of the WMA and other hunting options along with discriptions of each. Here is the link - http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/maps/compass.html

    Pistol Shooting?

I've shot in Burnsville many times, but I also use Bill's in Robbinsdale quite often. It a nice place and the prices are reasonable.

    The dangers of conibear traps

You want to talk about a pile of crap - one of the lines in the article in SUnday's paper did more damage then anything against the trappers. The head of the trappers group said: Meanwhile, Cornish said few dogs are caught in traps. "I think they should just accept it as one of those...
