Nice sheds! Better watch out posting pictures, someone might recognize which sagebrush bush that is and poach your spot! MD

    Remington Nitro Pheasant

Also be careful about choosing magnum over standard loads. I bought 20 ga. Remington Nitro Pheasant loads in both 3" magnum 1-1/4 oz. #5 and 2-3/4" 1 oz. #5 and they both delivered about the same number of pellets to the patterning board at 40 yards with a modified choke tube. Why waste money...

    Ultimate Pheasant Hunting

I'll give this thread a bump and introduce myself, As the tag indicates, the name's David and I live in the mountainous part of Montana. There are pockets of pheasants around and my parents' farm happens to be one of them. I'm blessed with a farming family tradition here that goes back a...

    A new fetish....S x S's

Just thought I'd update. Carried my CZ 12 ga. for three hours on the opener and didn't notice the weight a bit. Got a nice rooster out of the deal, watched a lot of birds fly around, enjoyed some great dog-work and had a blast with the SxS!

    A new fetish....S x S's

If your gun is half as nice as the one on Frachi's webpage, that's a fine gun! My 20 weighs in at just over 6 1/2 lbs (very nice to carry) and the 12 is 7 1/3 lbs. I agree that CZ 12 gauges are a bit heavy for hours in the field, but it was bought for a backup to the 20 and fair-weather duck...

    A new fetish....S x S's

BB, Congratulations on acquiring SxS disease - most researchers have determined that it is incurable! :D I myself went the "buy less expensive first" route to see what I liked. In addition to shooting my own guns, I've tried a couple other SxSs and shouldered a number in the shops and have...

    Does any bird hunter...

After a session throwing clays on the back forty we ran into three pigeons picking up spilled grain left from the recent harvest. They weren't too bright, but they weren't easy targets either. They let me get within 20 yards then flushed. After knocking the first one down, they circled while...

    Gun cleaning.

I only own single shots and doubles so it's easy to see what the barrels look like after shooting. I do the full solvent/brush/oil down at the end of each season: hunting and clays. All the other times I use a Boresnake to remove residue then oil if it looks like it needs it. Fingerprints...

Hunting with the help of the Hawks.

Newbie here, a fellow poster over at Shotgun World tipped me off to this forum. Wow, a balloon and a hawk call? If you use a big enough balloon, it could really take a load off your feet! ;) But seriously, I have heard that using a hawk call can hold pheasants, too. Anybody else try this?
