Any pheasants left on public land in Denton area?

There is BLM land around Billings that holds birds. Problem is, everybody hunts it. There are lots of BMA areas within 1-3 hours of Billings that hold birds, just need to do some scouting. I went up around the Denton area in October and there weren't many birds to be seen. I was only hunting...

Weather for central MT. and maybe on to the est

It's been raining here in Billings since Sunday night. We've gotten over 2" of rain so far and it's still coming down.

    Boot Toe Protector

I've been using Tuff Toe on my work and hunting boots for years. The stuff works great!

    Back up Battery

I've got a jump starter box that I keep in my toolbox. It also is an air compressor so if you get a flat, it'll get you out of that bind too(I also carry tire plugs). I paid about $70 at Costco for it. My wife has one in her mini van and her work car.

    It's killing me

I live in Laurel, about 20 minutes from Billings. These were taken north of Laurel. I grew up in Glendive and I really miss how good the bird hunting is over in eastern MT compared to here. There are birds around here, but they are fewer and farther between than back home.

    It's killing me

Didn't make it out on Saturday (oldest son had his flag football tournament) but made up for it yesterday. Cody brought his A game and we had our limit in a little over an hour. Hope the rest of the season is half as good as yesterday.

Looking for places to pheasant hunt in Lewistown

All you really can do is knock on doors and ask. You'll get turned down a lot more than finding a landowner that will let you hunt. I couldn't tell you how many times I've been told no, but every once in a while you'll be surprised by a yes. You never know until you ask. I would suggest hunting...

    Early Sunday Morning

Cell service in eastern MT is spotty, but it does exist. Eastern MT is isolated compared to different parts of the country. When you get around a lot of the towns, you'll have decent coverage, depends also what towns you'll be hunting around.

You more than likely would be OK with 2wd, unless we get a lot of snow, then it might get a little harder to navigate. Probably wouldn't hurt to have some tire chains just in case. Some roads have good gravel and others are clay/gumbo. It really doesn't matter if you have 4wd or not when you get...

My motivation will always be Upland

You can always do both. I'm planning on getting back into goose hunting this year. I personally could care less what people think about me and the fact I hunt upland and waterfowl. I haven't bought a deer tag in over 12 years. I enjoy making more trips in the field and watching my dog work.

    Strap Vest suggestions <$100

I've got a WingWorks vest and it's worth every penny. It's got everything you need and it's built to last. My advice is to save your money and invest in a WW vest.

    Early Sunday Morning

Weather forecast for the middle of the week looks much colder than normal and wet. Hopefully it clears up this weekend as I'll finally be able to get out in the field.
