    Something different...

I'm new to this forum. I enjoy seeing pheasants, and hunting them occasionally. I guess my first passion is trapping. Mainly mink and coyotes. I usually catch quite a few "non targets" such as raccoon, opposums, skunks, muskrats, beaver, badgers, etc. Here are a few coyotes I caught this...

    Fox pups S600 04-08-2013

I'd guess the Male is dead, somehow, some way. He plays an intricate part in raising the pups, especially providing food for the female initially, then the pups as well. That is a very good litter, she must be a good mother. I'd love to see more fox back in this area.

CRP Mix for reseeding of CRP

Thank you all so much for the enlightening heads up. I guess the seed mixture I did buy ,was going on non-CRP eligible ground. But near the acreage I live at, and simply put there for winter cover. A long with some sorghum/corn. At this time, no one will be hunting this winter refuge area...

    Fox pups S600 04-08-2013

Do you have pics of the male? Fox raise the pups together, I don't see any pics of the daddy anywhere? She will likely move the den at some point in time too. Find them some roadkill to help out! Again, Thank you for sharing

    Another NW IA Guy...

I'm a grain farmer, and turkey farmer in NW IA. I'm more interested in the restoration of habitat, and breaking ground for new habitat for pheasants, than I actually am in hunting them. I grew up hunting pheasants, and the "newness" or "coolness" of it all wore off quite a few years ago...

    Blast from the Past!!

I believe this is from 2005... Opening morning, and we were done by 10:30 AM. Pheasants galore!

CRP Mix for reseeding of CRP

Hello pheasant fanatics, I'm not as avid of a pheasant hunter as probably most of you, but I have shot my share over the years, but haven't killed any in 2 years now. I live in NW IA. I am a corn/soybean farmer, and we raise turkeys. Our family has 2 miles of stream that is currently...

    Habitat Destruction

A few more mild winters and our pheasants should rebound a bit. Maybe a little bit better in the area I live in NW IA, as my plans to make habitat suitable for them! Don't give up guys! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!?
