    2019

I travel throughout the state for my job and I've been pleasantly surprised the amount of all species of upland birds I've seen throughout the southern and north central parts of the state. I haven't been to NE this summer, but am not surprised at another year with bleak outlook. You guys can't...

    Bird hunting guide near Bozeman?

I agree with what's been said in the previous posts. There are plenty of good upland opportunities around Bozeman, however, pheasants are tough. There are birds around but folks are pretty secretive about the places that offer public access. I would recommend chasing mountain grouse, as they...

Taking a quick dip to Nebraska

Great questions! I was just in Nebraska doing the same thing. There are places that are non-toxic shot only, so be prepared. I carried 4 and 5 shot depending on the terrain and what we would encounter. I was in an area not known for quail, so my focus was on sharps and pheasants. It was a great...

    WTB: Remington 870 Super Magnum

Just throwing this out there before I buy new. I am looking to buy a Remington 870 Super Magnum, 28" barrel, right handed shooter in full camo. If anyone has one they'd like to sell, let me know. Only interested in a pump for waterfowl hunting. Thanks!

    Current conditions

Hunt smart and safe, it's going to be hot and dry. Keep those dogs well watered and cool!

    truck vs rv

Any precipitation falls, and you will get stuck. 4WD is a must. Have a great trip.

    Alpha 100 + 3 TT15 Collars

Would you be willing to sell off 1 of the TT15 collars? If so, how much? Looking to upgrade from my TT10 to a TT15.

    Montana moisture

I was up in the Golden Triangle last week and there was far more standing water in fields than I would have expected. Needless to say, much of the state has received significant rain in the past few weeks.

Possible move to Montana on the horizon

My wife and I moved to Bozeman in March and are really enjoying it. There are countless outdoor activities, all withing a reasonable drive. I am excited to hunt birds in Montana this season and have already started scouting for the upcoming season.

    Game Farm

I hunt at Wings of Watertown many times a year. Although its a small operation, the attention to detail is really good. Field B is my favorite. Give Orlando Game farm a call too, they are a good operation and a short drive from CG.

    Duluth Trading Co.

I bought the fire hose upland pants last season and they didn't make it through the season. They are too thin and got some holes and cuts, rendering them unwearable. They are very comfortable, but for the price, they aren't durable enough.

    2015-16 Hunting Reports & Pictures

Also got my butt kicked yesterday. Was introducing a friend to pheasant hunting yesterday and I think it threw me off my game. Shot one, did a bunch of missing, and my dog hunted down a cripple that couldn't fly. All in all, 2 birds were taken, only one was shot. Sometimes the wiley rooster wins.

Possible move to Montana on the horizon

I may be making the same move in a few months as well. I've hunted birds all around that area, and there are some great bird hunting opportunities, you just have to scout hard, and be able to work hard. Grouse, huns, and pheasants are all in the region.

be a gentleman when hunting on generous people's land

True, I about lost it last night on some public land, here in MN. Empty cans, empty shell boxes, shell casings everywhere, all I cleaned up. I've been carrying some bags with me the last few hunts, and come back with them nearly full of garbage every time. I don't want jack@sses ruining the...

    2015-16 Hunting Reports & Pictures

Hunted a spot late Sunday afternoon and got into some tight holding birds, which was really fun. They issue was, they were all hens. My GSP made 7 bird contacts and it was great early season work for her. Even though I couldn't shoot any, it was great being out, watching the dog work.
