Maybe I can blame my Progressive lenses for a low percentage on long shots. I've been wearing Progressives for about 30 years, at 72 now. This past weekend I crumbled pheasants in SD within 35 yards but 40-50 didn't work too well. Need to back up a ways when practicing at home with my...
I've seen a few posts on the web saying not to trust Beretta chokes, but to replace them with custom made. Since this is a 28" barrel I'm fine with flush mount chokes. Just need to find one of the better choke mfg's that make replacements.
Thanks guys. Wondering what chokes you use with the 1 oz-5s at longer ranges? Smaller pellet count than I'm used to with my 12 and 16 gauges.
I managed to get a box of target loads through it for a partial break in at clay pigeons out of my Whirleybird thrower late yesterday afternoon. Really...
Just picked up a Franchi Instinct L 28" 20 ga. O/U. I've never had a 3" chamber 20 before. Wondering what ammo you guys with experience with them like. Son-in-law has most of a case of Kent Fast Lead 5s left over from before my Grandson switched to 12 ga. I see Golden Pheasant 3" are 1200 fps...
At 72 years old I'm thinking about stopping the big game trips out west. Just got home from Wyoming with cheesy and my son in law. cheesy was the only one that drew antelope tags and filled both doe tags after the 12 hour drive up and setting up the wall tent camp. We all 3 had mule deer tags...
I have a M77 Tang Safety 250 Savage and a M77 MkII in 257 Roberts. My Savage 99 in 250 is a 99R, heavy and bulky, but it has taken several whitetails for me. Same as the other two. The Roberts has taken several Antelope at longer ranges, one out to 400 yards sitting down off shooting sticks. At...
It was really sketchy. Here on the other side of the state I had 2.1", my cousin 3 miles southeast had 3.5. His wife said her hometown of Cedar Vale east of Ark City got 7". Last night on the way home from my daughters north of Winfield I ran into the rain. from just west of Elk Falls to east of...
Been pheasant hunting with a Dickinson Estate 28" 16 ga for about 10 years now. It's for sure my goto gun except when its cold enough I have to wear gloves too bulky to use the double triggers. 1 1/8 oz home loaded 5s@1250-1270fps sure gets the job done.
I've been wearing a pair of Cabelas chaps for about 20 years. Helps when the grass is wet or frosty and comes close to warming my legs as much as a pair of long johns. Then I can take them off midday or so when it warms up
3.2" of much needed rain so far this morning here at my place in SE Ks. Of course the phone app says 1.65", everything from radar there and the station is 15 miles away.
