I hunt alone. How do you know who owns what land? Do you carry a plat book? I asked for permission 3 times this year, 2 people said no, the other one said they didn't own the land I was asking about. Anyways, thanks for the help, but I have to call it quits this year. I'm out of money and time...

I can't really scout, it was a 200 mile drive to that area. Or do you mean just drive from WPA/WMA to WPA/WMA and watch for birds?

I was in cattails mostly. The problem was the snow had all blow into the cat tails so the deepest snow was in the swamp. I guess I just picked a bad area to try, but like I said I'm new at this and pretty much just shooting in the dark lol. Oh well, I'll try again next year, earlier in the year...

I was in Windom on Friday. Didn't see a single bird. Trudging through cover in 1+ foot of snow sucked. From what I saw in the snow, no one had been there in days. I'm probably not going to waste anymore time driving that far south again this year.

0, I've spent probably 60+ hours in the field on various WMAs this year and haven't flushed a bird yet. This last time I drove all they way to Windom, mn lol. I have terrible luck.

I remember seeing the Hevi-shot, it was like 30 bucks for a box. I'll give it a try though. :(

What vest do you use? I can't find one that fits properly, they are all for broader dogs such as a lab.

What shot should I use? I use a 20 gauge so there is a limited selection in non-toxic. If you could PM me some more specific places that would be great, I don't have a good map of that area that shows where the WPAs are.

Yea, he isn't much for cold weather lol. I don't keep him out for long in this weather. I sometimes put a vest on him too.

Is it worth going out with this current weather? And JFan, I have a lot of maps along with all the WMAs for Google Earth, which works great.

Hello all. I found this site in hopes of getting some help. This is my first year hunting. I've used up about a week of vacations on WMAs down south in the Hutchinson area and have not seen a single bird. My family does not own land, and are not hunters, so I've been on my own with my Weimaraner...

I'm in Becker. This is my first year hunting (no family or friends that hunt) and I have been looking for someone to help me out. I've wasted about a week of vacation and haven't seen a single rooster, even with my dog. If you go out again please let me know.
