    Mud boots

I have bogs Classic Highs. They seem a little tight across top of foot at first but loosen up as they form to foot. Great comfortable boots. Uppers have room for brush pants to easily fit inside boot if you want to tuck them in. Think you’ll like them.

    Mud boots

15” Bogs. I like Bogs better than Mucks. Seems to fit me better, more support, very comfortable to wear every day. I hunt 2-3 months in SD & wear them most days. Soles don’t collect mud. Quick hose off, good to go.

    Labor Day SD

Just spoke to buddy in Spink county. He also has been out running dogs & is not seeing birds, even in spots we have always found them. Lot of cover gone he said☹️. Better bring lots of dogs & be ready to travel.

    Labor Day SD

Buddy also came from MT last week to open house in SD. Basically made loop Mobridge - Aberdeen, south to Redfield-Huron, back west Miller/Highmore to Pierre. Checked a bunch of public we have hunted through the years & stopped and talked with number of farmers, some we know. Echoes what Chad...

    Hot and Dry Weather

Agree with Big Rand. I drive 24 hours from Florida every year but I own a home in SD and stay 2-3 months. Guys driving far away hunting public may want to think about it this year. Some of my neighbors are telling their hunters they want to skip this year. My neighbors include 2 rural carriers...

    Hot and Dry Weather

Lots of CRP being hayed off. A buddy rode through Miller/Highmore area and checked about a half dozen public areas, all but one were completely hayed. Said he didn't see anything but hundreds of hay bales. Also talked with friend in Redfield area, he said most farms haying all CRP & sloughs...

    R.I.P. Elle

So sorry George. Was an honor and pleasure to hunt with you and Elle one time. She was one impressive dog. How lucky y'all were to have each other. RIP sweet girl.

    Hunting Hutterite land?

Most colonies around me charge $100/gun/day. I don't know of any that let anyone hunt for free. Even locals here have to pay most times. Usually the farm manager or head elder will handle hunting. I had a group of 8 last year paid to hunt. 8 guys & 6 dogs. $800 bucks, killed 2 birds. Remember...

    Road counts

Just a couple days ago I fired up chainsaw beside the house & a rooster started cackling like crazy. Saw him take off through the trees about 20 yards from me. Pretty neat.

    What do you think?

I'd head west too. May have better luck than going north of Carpenter.

    2016 Crop Harvest Reports

Looks to be a little ahead here in Jim River corridor. I have been visiting about a dozen farms this past week throughout several counties. Most will be done with beans in a week or so. Two have finished & started on corn. So by opener a good many crops will be out. Now the bad news. Only one...

Thanks Rick. Hope we have good luck too. Gotta watch out for those porkys!

    Grouse Reports?

Thanks Chris. Grand River is huge area, will talk to biologist and try to narrow down productive areas. Looks like I'm gonna only have a few days to hunt there before heading back East river to meet friends for phez.
