I also heartily agree, they could have thrown it all at the elk. That amount of cash tho can be split many ways and still help. Still, w/o the Play there would be no pheasant program as seen today. Hatchery redeux and increased production should give the PGC haters in Pennsylvania pause. But, I...

    Who would you bring back?

Wonga Phillip Harris....for the grin and, maybe, someone could clone his liver.

House Bill 2089- Retrieval of Hunting Dog

T, doesn't appear from that last post that I misunderstood but...it can happen to all of us. However, believing a dog will "show up" at some point is a bit too vague for me...if a pup is on point, or is hung up in some damn coyote snare someone set to save a deer or three or, 100 other...

House Bill 2089- Retrieval of Hunting Dog

Quite happy to say that my birddog, who shares my life, is more important to me than any farmer hunting any deer....seems obvious if one is a connected birddog owner. If you were able to read everything I wrote, slowly enough then you would see that I said I have no wish to be on anyone's...

House Bill 2089- Retrieval of Hunting Dog

Sounds fair to me...other than I would never, ever leave my setter anywhere to run free once discovered...or in the hands of someone I did not know, in order to contact law enforcement. That would never happen. And I expect there are some landowners small enough to care less for a birddog...

House Bill 2089- Retrieval of Hunting Dog

As I stated earlier in the thread, the Bill was likely to fail....seemed obvious. (c) clearly shows that the intent was legal trespass only for the collection of wounded game but the wording and introduction were so poorly constructed that they became words for Bill opponents to rally support...

House Bill 2089- Retrieval of Hunting Dog

The "you" in "you won't be tempted"....goes toward grouping all who trespass in one lump...my response is based on not wanting to be placed in one lump. There are many reasons why an illegal trespass can occur. Readers do have a responsibility toward trying to understand a poster...as posters...

House Bill 2089- Retrieval of Hunting Dog

It is indeed simple. I walk a piece of ground subtly pushing pheasants ahead untill a fence may halt them, or a change of cover, or a sign halts me, or...the dog mindful of scent takes a step upon posted ground. When I see him do so, I gather him up. That one foot or 100 yards or whatever is...

House Bill 2089- Retrieval of Hunting Dog

    1) I was quite clear. I do not want my dog on posted land but I have lived long enough that I understand that Life throws one curves now and again, in and out of the field...my setter following scent onto posted property is not a situation that I encourage and is one for which I would retrieve...

House Bill 2089- Retrieval of Hunting Dog

I would suggest that in the real world the use of voltage to keep a dog in line may not always be a possibility or a wise one; while smart, my setters can not read No Trespassing signs or recognize the meaning of purple; and that "stuff happens" when hunting that no hunter desires. I have had my...
