    Headed That Way

Looks like a couple of us are headed to KS late Saturday. Been an interesting year/ have a new grand baby, then I tested positive for Covid, grand baby scheduled for hip surgery but then she came up positive. Now surgery on Jan 26. Duck season in Arkansas is slow, wife said go and I have a young...

    Any reports from hunters ?

Here is a brief report from our trip: Got to Yankton SD about 6 am on Sunday morning and started driving back roads north and west to meet our friends who had arrived a day earlier. We looked at lots of good public habitat but never saw a bird. Our friends finally found a few on a public piece...

    Headed that way

Hunted two days so far, killed a few both days. We are seeing some birds but the numbers are down and are very scattered. We think it is hard to tell exact numbers with this warmer weather as we have not found the concentrations we have in past years. Still a great time though!!

    Headed that way

Thanks guys. I often leave mallards for a day or two or so without cleaning them, but we don't get weather in Arkansas conducive to that very often anymore. The gamebird aging/hanging idea is intriguing to me but a little scary here in our climate. Thanks for the info on the Huns, what I...

    Headed that way

This will be our tenth or twelfth to chase birds up that way and are looking forward to the hunt. Looks like numbers are down but we plan to hunt hard on public and see what happens. We are basing in Platte till it looks like we need to make a move. Couple questions - would anyone want to point...

Where is your top destination for pheasants in the 2017 hunting season?

Doves, ducks, deer, geese, squirrel at home here in Arkansas. I have said for last few years I would go to Minnesota for grouse/woodcock but I am a little intimidated by the large amount of land and a lack of knowledge on the birds. Late in the year we will be back in SD in an area NW of...

    Back Problems

Mine started a few years back and I was able to get in to see what was termed one the best but most conservative neurosurgeons in the Northeast part of Arkansas. Following a trip to SD at that time I could barely walk but that would be followed by numbness/tingling in my right leg and foot and...

    Back Problems

Update: I had the procedure done and everything seems to going as planned about 10 days later. It was a 2.5 hour surgery, three day hospital stay but I had a great doc who checked on me both day and night and also called me last week just to check on my progress. The...

    Back Problems

I have enjoyed the state of SD immensely over the last 8 -10 years. Thanks to each of you who have assisted in anyway. We are looking to return next year but I have a slight hurdle to overcome on the way. I have a ruptured disc and a degenerated spine that will require surgery on Feb 2. The docs...

WYbirdhunter would you care if I send you a message with a few questions concerning that area? Thanks, Chuck

    Antelope/bird hunt

Thanks for the reply and info. I think we have enough points to draw 72 again this year but was concerned because I did read where the antelope population had suffered some there. We saw some sage grouse and bought a small game license, but never saw them again after purchasing our license. Not...

    Antelope/bird hunt

We are looking at applying for antelope tags this year and would like to combine that with some upland bird hunting. We hunted antelope a few years back in unit 72 I think, just west of Casper. It will be public land unless we could find private for a small access fee. We are not in search of...
