I would not drive from Minnesota to Indiana to hunt quail. Are there quail to hunt? Yes if you put the time in but you drive by far better states on the way. I would go to Kansas long before Indiana.

Avian influenza is pretty deadly in a poultry facility or enclosed area. I highly doubt that there is any widespread impact on pheasant in the wild. Hard to say what is going on though.

Hunting without a dog is doable but you have to change your tactics. I prefer to stick to smaller areas along the edge of cover. I walk slowly and stop frequently to get birds to flush. Birds will get nervous and flush if you stop or change things up. Try and avoid large CRP fields and stick...
