Had a great day today, hunting with my 2 sons and their friend. We all limited out by 4. Seen more birds than I have seen in 11 years of coming to Kansas.
Dogs worked great, looking forward to tomorrow and Wednesday when the weather cool's off.
Hunted South Central Kansas Dec.6-9th, had a great time hunting with my 2 sons and a friend and his son in law. We ended up with 23 pheasants and 3 quail. Dogs worked great, a Gordon setter Lab cross, a little warm but just had to keep them hydrated.
Mustistuff, His dad the Gordon would hunt dead with the best of them also. He was good at it and then on one dead pheasant up in SD he got spurred and I think it made him mad, from that day on he hardly ever lost a dead bird it was fun to watch.
His daddy was the Gordon, best dang dog I ever hunted behind and he's picked up right where his dad left off. One of the best dead bird hunting dogs I've ever had won't qiut until we find it or call him off. We call him a Gorbrador
Thanks guys, I think we just hit a good spot that first day because as you see the next 2 days went downhill. But the good spot still had birds there, scary part was we seen more roosters than hens this year.
Been awhile since I have posted. Thought I would post a couple of pics of our early Dec. hunt in KS. 4 of us had 11 by 11:00 then it got to hot for dogs. Next day we shot 5 before noon 3rd day shot 1 before we headed home at 11:00. Had a great time as usual, dogs worked great in warm dry...
