When I was in college in the late 80's we had some incredible hunts around Hiawatha to Seneca. Knocked on doors and got permission from three or four farmers (ah the good ol' days). Did great on pheasant and quail. Then Mid America Gamebird Association formed and leased up all the land...
Mike,
I read the article and thought it was well done. I think it's great what you and others are doing to get our youth interested in the outdoors and hunting/fishing. On that note, I'd like your opinion. I have some buddies who have younger kids that enjoy hunting. However, they've had a...
Blue, I understood that the intent of your post was to show how spotty. I apologize if my response offended you. I am not an elitist and wasn't trying to sound like one. I should've worded it differently and stated that I prefer the small group hunting. I wasn't trying to judge those who...
I would tend to agree. Although I know this has been debated on here many times before. Personally, my fondest memories are of hunts with just me and my dad and the dogs. I consider anything over 5 or 6 guys a "big" group, but that's just my personal preference.
According to the KDWP website, the possession limit is 16. However, if the Dodge City group had 16 and harvested 82 birds opening weekend (assuming they hunted Saturday and Sunday) they were still 46 birds shy of their limit of 128.
Heading out in the morning. My dad has 10 acres and one of his buddies planted wheat on it. His buddy mowed the stubble for us about two weeks ago. Drove by around 4:30 yesterday and saw around 50 or so. Hoping to get some decent shooting in.
Thanks for all of the responses. I was a bit skeptical myself. I've torn ligaments in both of my ankles so I like the support of a lace up boot when I'm bird hunting. I think I'll stick to the lace ups for upland but will definitely consider Mucks for alternative use.
