    Bird Flight Speed

When talking pheasants I think the real question is "How fast do pheasants RUN?" :) I'll take my chances on a fast flying pheasant but those track stars are the hard ones to put in the vest :) You could probably say the same for a lot of other upland game as well :D

Should I fire up the chainsaw?

This thread is a little old but I read this article and remembered it so I thought I would post it for anyone interested. http://www.startribune.com/sports/outdoors/90053167.html

Should I fire up the chainsaw?

I guess it doesn't bother me when I see the trees getting removed. From my experience I have only seen this practice done on WPA by the USFW since they manage WPA's for waterfowl production thus the name WPA (Waterfowl Production Area). Here in MN the DNR manages WMA's (Wildlife Management Area)...

    Excercise during the Winter

Snowshoeing is good exercise for the dogs and you. Skijoring is also great fun. Google it if you don't know what it is.

    GSP or English Setter?

I'll vote GSP as well. I only hunted behind one setter and it wasn't a good one. I am sure there are many fine setters but as other have said long hair is a hassle on hunting dogs. I also agree with only getting one puppy and devoting your time its training. Good luck with your decision.

Crop Harvest, Quality Habitat and Pheasant Movement/Density

I am probably thinking a little too hard today and wonder what your think the effects are of the corn harvest and available habitat has on the overall pheasant movement or density. Some of my posed questions are basically the same but with a twist on the scenario. I should probably separate the...

best dog you have EVER hunted behind?

I'd say a Lab that was my first true hunting dog. Amazing nose and I think he wished I would cripple every rooster I shot at because he loved to track cripples and I have many memories of great retrieves of cripples. I mainly hunted late season cattails when I had him and I haven't seen a better...

    World record Buck

Here is a link to the story: http://www.startribune.com/local/69872837.html?page=1&c=y Really unfortunate it couldn't have been harvested by someone legally. :(

    Designer Pheasant hunters

"The clothes don't make the man." "The clothes don't make the man." I think that is how the saying goes. To many people think fancy clothes means rich guy buying his way. Than you have the hillbilly rednecks that wear worn out stuff and they are thought of as outlaws that poach and trespass. I...

    Wounded bird

It is really hard to say. I wouldn't say that it was dead bird for sure. Pheasants are tough and have a very strong will to survive. It is possible it died when it landed but I have seen legs drops and trust me a pheasant can still cover a lot of ground on broken leg(s). They can also burrow...

    Webster Area-grouse,huns

I agree not many sharptail or huns around Webster. I did find on covey of huns two years ago but it was opportunistic and since haven't seen any. On a positive note you should have no problem finding pheasants.
