I couldn't get a shot off as the pup was in the way. I believe the yote was hunting birds as we had just flushed a group of 20+ birds not more than 50 yardrs from where he stole the bird.
This year I shot a bird over a young dog. As he was running to it for the retrieve a coyote ran out from the ditch grabbed the bird and ran off with it.

So do you guys have trackers on your dogs yet...? Trackers and better training pretty much resolves lost dogs.
Not that I am insensitive to a dog being lost just that it is almost always preventable by training, trackers, or someone that knows how to handle the dog.
We were out west this weekend too. More hunter trafic on Sunday compared to Saturday. I am assuming the nicer weather played a role in that. We did have some challenges finding an area with not as much snow as our farm had received.

Went out on Sat. we did not move as many birds as we did last weekend. We got our limit of 6 and had some great work from a couple of the puppies. They have come a long way this past 4 months.
