Need some help my best bud lost his hearing

This is why leash training and quartering are so important. There is little you can do with a collar if this discipline was never imposed. I don't run a collar on my female Springer as she doesn't need it. The first time I hunted at my new lease, one guy insisted on my collaring my dog, " or she...

Right. No problems with finicky eating. He'd dive head-first into the pressure cooker if you let him.

    Senior Dog Food

I'm hunting a Spaniel that's old enough to have a learner's permit in South Dakota. I haven't fed processed dog food in over 10 years. I live on a highway where 2-3 whitetails die every night. It's the best free dog food you could ever ask for. If my dogs don't eat it, the bears at the tourist...

    Whoa command training for labs/flushers

Exactly, there in no "Whoa" or "stay" command for a flushing dog, no need. When they are paying attention to what they are doing, but I need to give a command, but don't want to use voice or whistle, I make a clicking sound with my tongue to get the dog's attention, then use a hand signal.

    Can pheasants see blaze orange?

If you hunt with knuckleheads, you are 17 times more likely to get shot in the ass. Otherwise, it doesn't matter. You can usually tell if deer hunters are around. If your etiquette is so poor as to ruin their hunt, you might deserve what you get. If you are hunting food plots with the...

    Lost dog

Yup, that's what I do, name and number on the collar with a Sharpie, less stuff hanging to catch on.

    Lost dog

Could be, but I don't run dogs in the field with a collar. In fact, other than training collars, setup to break away, my dogs never wear collars. I know the risk is much higher that I will come home and find a dog hanging than in one of them running away. Hope you find the owner, if not, their...

    Springer vs Lab training?

To answer the OP question. for purposes of training a Lab or Springer for upland birds, the technique is exactly the same. But don't take my word for it.Get a copy of the bible, titled "Gun Dog Training for Spaniels and Retrievers", by Kenneth Roebuck. Never trained with a club as my comrades...

    Springer vs Lab training?

Most of those Labs are laying on someone's couch getting fat. I'll take you up on your challenge, in western SD, in the roughest pheasant country you are likely to see. I see em come and see em go. They usually end up walking right in front of their handler, while the spaniels do the work, then...
