    Hunting Luckimute Valley Pheasants

I was there a couple of weeks ago and was really pleased with all aspects of the hunt. I plan on going again but would like to have one or two along to help getting the birds up. I hunted area 3 and it is good walking for the older set like me. I live in Carlton and it is an hour and a half...

    How is it shapping up?

Only about 3 weeks to go and some of you have been already in the field. Are the young birds showing color? Has the rains in the Saco (NW) area been a problem? Does Froid still have the big feed the night before opening?

    Need a guide

Consider a trade Why don't you offer a trade. Salmon fishing in one of the rivers close to you for the Montana pheasant hunt. I'm sure a lot of land owners would jump at the chance and they know where their birds are on their own property. Maybe you could contact a BLM office in any of the...

    Mixed bag game birds

A few years ago, Froid had a preseason steak fry and a get together with the local ranchers. Permission slips were handed out at that time. I grew up around Chariton IA and even back then we had great bird hunting and if all else failed we went up around Grinell. A lot cheaper then driving...

    Spring bird count

Sorry I should have looked before I leaped. Guess I'm getting stupid in my old age.

    Spring bird count

Has there been any offical or unoffical bird count for NE MT for pheasants?

    Late Hunting

I like your plan, but I hunt with a Springer Spaniel and he is in and out of the cattails as a flushing dog should be. With that in mind, I'm stuck with my technique. Why not the spa at Sleeping Buffalo? Have they cleaned it up since a few years ago? Happy Holidays!!!

    Late Hunting

I just got back from pheasant hunting around Sako, Malta etc and want you late hunters to know that the bird population is still in great shape. They are definitely skiddish and bunched up but there are plenty of roosters still out there to be taken. The rains have made getting around a...

    Eastern Montan a Weather

Grounded. (Old Aviator Term) I cancelled my eastern MT trip yesterday. I probably couldn't have gotten there from Victor anyway, let alone hunt birds once I got there.

Snakes are still out - probably not a surprise to anyone

Thanks for the help on treating against the porcipine problem. From now on I'll be more prepared.

Snakes are still out - probably not a surprise to anyone

The problems I have had hunting in the area around Winnett and Glascow are with porcipines. I've removed them by cutting off the ends and pulling em out with tweezers. I don't know of any school to teach a dog to stay away from those critters.

    Wanted: Weather Change

No hunting in the Bitterroot Valley You couldn't see a grouse around here for the Idaho smoke and if you have COPD you probably would die in a couple of hours so we wait a couple of weeks. (hopefully).
