    lost shotgun

I never have left a gun behind, but I did leave two really nice fishing poles at a portage in the BWCA. I realized it about 5 miles and a portage later. Poles are cheap compared to a shotgun...I donated them to Sasquatch!

    Ruger Red Label?

I've owned mine for 25 years! The gun shoulders and shoots very naturally. I don't notice the weight so much as I have short barrels. I think the first six shots fired through it took 2 roosters and 4 huns, after that I lost track. The woodwork is beautiful...similar to tiger striping.

How often do you train/run your dogs?

We too have a lot of access to land real close. Working on multiple marks and blind retrieves, also belong to a club. We're at it almost every day of the week and it's quite often the highlight of my day! We're going after a Senior title this summer.

    Trainer Question

You can do it yourself if you have the "know how". Do some research, read books, watch videos, join a training club. Delivering to hand may take an experienced person if you don't do your research, but, the dog may pick it up on his own with repetition. I train 3-4 times a week, but I have have...

Starting a new pup with what bird?

Nothing fires up a pup like a wing-clipped pigeon! They're exciting and harmless.

Put my buddy of 14 + years down today

I've experienced this very thing, twice thus far. I've held my best friends as they breathed their last breath. Reluctantly I've turned them loose to Heaven, knowing that one day we will walk those trails again.....together. Sorry for your loss. -Red Label

My wife would roll her eyes at me, but I think we all know what we're dealing with here........it's an immature Bigfoot! Did you check for tracks???

    Yellow lab makes me sneeze!

   Some individual labs may mello over the years, but you have a ways to go! Labs love to please and long for your companionship if you treat them right. If you train them and set up guidelines for them, you will not find a more loyal partner. Sometimes when I'm sitting...

    Raising pheasants

I was going to comment that raccoons are pretty much inactive right now, but noticed that your from Illinois (not that that matters ;)) I've heard that bobcats may take the heads off. Is that a possibility?

    Raising pheasants

FC- Those are great pics  I've been wanting to put up a pen and raise pheasants too. Something about that size, maybe a little bigger. It will be primarily for training and I just love looking at them. Do the pheasants seem to get along with the pigeons ok? Have you ever had mallards...

I use Fiocchi as well  But with an improved cylinder.........unless, of course a second bird gets up, then he will have to answer to the modified barrel.
