SW ND: Lots Of Corn & Seeds Still Up

Hey all - excited to get out a few times in the next month. Historically i've always checked the ND Crop Harvest Report, but looks like due to the government shut down, they arent updating that this year. Anyone know of other places to see how much of the crop is out? Couple google searches and...

    Well...............

What part of ND are you guys located that have recieved so much snow? Have been trying to see how much snow is in the SC portion (south of Bismark/East of Missouri river), and have only seen a few inches here, a few inches there. PLanning on going out around Christmas, but might rethink it if...

    ND Hunting

We had our annual trip 11/20-11/24 and it was the worst trip we've had in 6 years (2x a year, so 12 trips total). The amount of water that was around central/SC ND was astonishing. We had many areas that we've hunted every year that were literally a 5ft deep lake. Corn was at least 80% still...

    Public Land Hunts

I would say forget about pheasants in that area, you're better off just throwing a ball to get the dog some exercise than attempting to walk for pheasants anywhere. Not much, if any, public land in that area, as you're almost on the polar opposite part of the state where somewhat decent pheasant...

    Bird report Central/South Cerntral ND

Thanks for the update. I usually don't even read the spring crow counts, as they just seem like shots in the dark (at least to me). I rely solely on farmer contact and the roadside report in september. Glad to hear you're seeing broads each trip. Looking forward to the season!

How'd everyone do this weekend? Was there as much snow in ND as we got in MN?

    2017 Hunting Reports

Hunted north of the cities yesterday for half the day, did a couple public areas and flushed 3 hens and 1 rooster. I'd say 95% of the corn was still up. Towards the end of the day near the golden hour I did come across a spot that I saw 7-8 roosters in, with a couple more in the ditch about 30...

    NDGF bird count

damn is that hard to read. are any of you able to find the full report? I've searched for just about everything i can think of and can only find the summary that the NDGAF provides, rather than the full detailed PDF report that you can find for MN or SD. Anybody able to find this?

    2016 Season

just got back from our first ND trip this year (5 days). It was really windy a couple days but we did alright. Birds were definitely not out and about as I've seen in past years. We had 3 guys and 2 dogs and averaged about 6 birds a day. Could have had our limit but we each had our fair share of...

    2016 Season

Nice Dak, how would you say the numbers are this year in comparison with prior years? About the same? From the looks of harvest reports, it seems like a majority of the corn out? Heading out this week for our annual trip and am cautiously optimistic on finding at least decent bird numbers

    2016-2017 Hunting Reports and Photos

I hunted for half a day on Saturday around Braham, since it was pretty rainy in the morning. Just went up by myself with the pup to get him some work before our NoDak trip. I was pretty encouraged by the bird numbers. Saw 5 along the road while driving, including a group of 3 roosters the were...

    2016 Season

Great reports everyone, it sounds like things are have been pretty darn solid out there! For those of you getting your limits, curious if you are hunting public or private land (knocking on doors), or if you are staying at an outfitter for guided hunts? Either way, great to hear that there are...

    2016 Season

Figured since opener was yesterday, I'd start up the annual thread. How'd everyone do this weekend? Been reading a lot on how the bird numbers are down this year from 2015, and that they are expecting the harvest to be closer to 2013 where they were at 450k. Just curious if anyone has noticed...

    SC to ND hurricane evacuation

You wont find prairie chickens in ND. I've been hunting here for 10 years now and haven't seen one, nor heard of anyone else getting them when he go into town for a cold one after the day. You may find some grouse, but don't expect to be walking CRP or shelter belts and be flushing both of them...

    MN grouse hunters...

Great to hear Brittman! I've always found the best part of hunting is that year when your dog "just gets it" and you can enjoy watching them do what they love - plus it always helps when they get you a few birds :) Pheasant opener right around the corner now - can't wait to get my springer out...
