Hens, Hens, More Hens... and One Rooster

It's nice to hear some stories/hunting reports from you guys. And nice to see some of you guys are getting on the birds. I finally broke down and took the dog to a nearby Game Farm yesterday and today - since the rooster contacts have been kinda scarce this fall on our Public WMA/WPA...

    Waterproof, breathable shell.

The Cabelas Upland Windshear pullover linked on the previous page works pretty well for a shell in cool, dry conditions. But it's limited to a middle-layer when it's wet or cold. I've got a couple of them. So I'm gonna give this shell a try during late-season... ordered one today. Tried one...

    Guys with only one dog

Nope, quite the opposite. Love both of mine. The signature line is just some good-natured fun directed at myself - for all the 'classic' over/under or side by side guys out there.... you know, the 'traditional' upland folks. :D That's all - no more, no less.

Dog boots - How do I keep them on?

    PM coming your way.

Hens, Hens, More Hens... and One Rooster

Yeah, I guessed most roosters must be in the cattails already. Definitely had a good time, though - and we did find quite a few birds. But I lacked the motivation to tear off into the sloughs with dog in tow. As dry as it is, it's tempting... but the dog really takes a beating. And it...

Dog boots - How do I keep them on?

Been using the Lewis boots for a few weeks now. Great boots, and a huge step up from the velcro/cordura boots we were using - in my opinion.

Hens, Hens, More Hens... and One Rooster

Just returned home tonight from a two day trip southwest of the Twin Cities. The goal was to get my little BLF on a few birds. Spent both days working a handful of WMA's in Lincoln and Lyon Counties and then hunted a WMA in McLeod County this afternoon on the way home. The good news. - the...

Dog boots - How do I keep them on?

Thanks for all the info, fellas. I'm hoping last fall was just bad luck - but I'm pretty sure we'll get some use out of the Lewis boots too. Particularly later in the year.

Dog boots - How do I keep them on?

Any chance you'd like to share any info - for those of us that don't have ready access to that ?

Dog boots - How do I keep them on?

Yep. That's exactly what I did. Guess I figured I was missing something. I found some info / photos from Gun Dog Supply on taping the Lewis boots on. Looks awfully close to what I did with the Ultra Paws. Seems kinda common for some boots to occasionally come off - despite our best attempts...

Dog boots - How do I keep them on?

Thanks fellas. I did some additional reading on the Lewis boots this morning. I returned the new Ultra Paws set today and am pretty close to rolling the dice on the Lewis boots. Seems like many guys prefer them over the Ultra Paws. Also, looks like Gun Dog Supply has the best prices on the...

    Choke question

Patterned both my M2 and SBE II with a number of loads over the last 2 years using factory Benelli chokes, Carlson Waterfowl tubes, and now Carlson Prairie Storm tubes trying to find a couple chokes / loads combinations that would shoot great in both guns. I was looking for the 'set it and...

Dog boots - How do I keep them on?

Let me start with a little background: I've got a BLF that turns 2 years old at Christmas. Last year, we had two separate occurences of foot punctures that kept her out of the field for about 3 weeks last season. The first was an unknown foreign body in her front foot that resolved after...

    Bad day for me!

Was this the day you referred to in the 'Which choke to use' thread quoted above... or one since then? Sorry to hear you're still having troubles. Are you clearly missing - or just not killing them cleanly? I doubt the modified choke you were using was causing your problems. Have you been...
