I have been out there a few times and it was crowded! I saw a few birds, but they were very jump and there were hunters just about every where I went. I am sure it will die down some now that the opener and Thanksgiving holiday are over

Well, maybe it was a combo of poor scenting conditions and an excited pup?

Have you had your dog hunting birds in a controlled environment, like a bird farm or even birds you planted?

That is what I was hoping for, but they were still out in full force on Tuesday! Also looking forward to cooler weather.

I went out on the 11th (Tuesday) in central KS and counted 18 trucks before noon! It was tough to find a public spot to hunt that didn't have people in it or had already been hit. Saw a couple birds, but once the temps hit mid 60s, I loaded up the dogs and went home.

That is a tough day with a couple of kids. I think that is why my son prefers waterfowl hunting, we spent a lot of time walking public fields with no birds when he was growing up.

We only saw one other group with 2 kids out yesterday, but I definitely see adults on the youth turkey hunt every year

We went out Saturday. Had a couple chances but no birds down. The weather was good, the dogs did great, but the roosters were running and flushing like it was late season! A lot of crops were still standing and the rains this year have really thickened up the cover.

Headed out tomorrow for my last youth hunt with my youngest son. A lot of memories have been made over the years with my two sons, I am sad this chapter is coming to an end. For all of you thinking about heading out with your kids, DO IT, it goes by fast!
