    Hello From Billings!

Modern men piss me off... going downhill fast. I will try and mitigate the effects of drifting that way.

    Hello From Billings!

Brit... not sure where or how I came off sounding so feminine, but I have accepted that I've been in touch with my feminine side!! nah... just a guy though. ;0) ANyhow, yeah...anything this pup does is full throttle. The other day I took my cougar mount out of a store room to finally hang up in...

    Hello From Billings!

Thanks all.. He is a dang good sized springer... bigger than either his mom or dad there at 10 month! He seemed to level off there though. Strong and a hard worker and crazy for birds! WooHoo!

    Easy winter so far

Billings had -32 wind chill most the day yesterday... -11 air temp. Negative again today with about 8 inches snow on the ground. Looks like up north didn't get too much, but there is some decent snow from Custer on up towards Roundup! Brr.

    Pattern

Yeah Shadow, you are definitely right. We will pattern for sure here in a couple months when it warms up a bit. I am real curious to see how my guns will show... Thanks for all the good info!

    Easy winter so far

Sounds like the snow cover will increase over the next couple days... maybe 6-12 inches across a lot of the plains. Hopefully it wont hit them too hard!

Who has a good hunting "mutt"?

So, if you could... what would be an interesting cross?? My springer/shorthair never once ever showed any signs of wanting to point.. but he's built like a GSP... Wonder what a Goldie/Springer cross would do? Both great flushers, both long haired... be wild to have a springer sized dog that...

Who has a good hunting "mutt"?

Just curious... I grew up hound hunting and any hound breed crossed with another (Black and Tan, Plott, Redbone, Walker, Bluetick, etc...) never turned out anything worse than a pure bred cross... I have an old springer/GSP cross that was a great companion, but I never hunted him. I have no...

Is he too old to start hunting?

Kismet hit the nail on the head in my opinion!

    Pattern

On another note, it will be interesting to see what my old 410 does at say 10-15 yards. i'm sure its a full bore. My daughter had a HELL of a time hitting clays with it, and she was pulling the trigger on them at pretty close range, probably never over 20 yards. I bet its a tight little pattern...

Good point Michigan... I need to do something like that. And my 12 yr old daughter needs to do it to see "what" a shotgun does... Thanks all, great advice.

Interesting, thanks Oldandnew! Bottom line is, I'll likely be just buying some more 6's and going hunting... ;0)

    New Guy...intro

Does anyone know if the area around the musselshell, from Roundup to Harlotown is any good? What about up near Grassrange?

    Pattern

Stemming off my question about 12 vs 20... I know I could probably google shotgun pattern and get a boat load of info, but it'd be funner to bs about it with you guys. So what is a "good" pattern? I know there are variables and such. If I take my guns out and "pattern" them... what should I...
