I saw a hen, rooster, and two chicks out near Abbyville last weekend. Nice sight after not seeing any last year. Terry

Went out with my GSP for a short hunt this morning found 3 or 4 hens then at the end of CRP field we found the roosters. Two got up and two hit the ground perfect points on both from Trigger. For 17 months old he is awesome. Adding a few pics of the day. 2nd rooster had 3/4" spurs and 21.5" tail.

We hunted from sunup till about 4 yesterday Between 10 of us we got 6 cocks and 1 quail. We saw more deer than we did birds. Found a group of turkeys some geese and a fox. All birds were old birds worst opening day we have had in 15 yrs. Dog did very well for his first hunt on wild birds.

Medic53, Were are you located at? Also are you talking about Ringneck Haven? If so that is a great choice have bought birds from them in the past and they are great people. Terry

Took my 14 mo old GSP out to do some training on chukars with some friends on Saturday. Had a very fun and informal training day. First point Cooling of in pond Proudest I have been of him. Beautiful point. Relaxing

Southern send me a pm with your email address and I will send you the info from KDWP. I looked into this a couple weeks ago. You have to band all quail and pheasants if they are out of season before you release them. If using Chukar you are golden to shoot and train year round on the ground...

I live in Hutch and have had the pup out and also dove hunting and driving the back roads. I have seen one pheasant this year the whole time out. Have seen a few quail but not like usual. Like others have stated not a good year to be hunting in this area.

Went out yesterday around Hutchinson, we got 16 between 3 of us.

Went out to the Mcpherson Wetlands for opening day there were 54 hunters on a mowed sunflower field 764 birds were shot in the morning, in the evening 15 hunters bagged around 125 birds. There are just a ton of doves arounf the Hutchinson area. Very fun weekend...
