    Motel Recommendation in Hugoton, KS

I'm used to bass pro or Cabelas, so to me the wal-mart was bare. They have your standard remington 4's or 6's and not much more. Oh yea, no where close for dog supplies and lots of stickers. Byob (bring your own boots)

    Motel Recommendation in Hugoton, KS

I was in the area today and only saw a couple of places. From what I saw, there should be no problem booking something with a little Internet research. I did not see any bigger chains. I believe they were local little spots. I drove over from liberal which had a ton of hotels and it took me...

    Come on liberal, be kind!!!

Thanks Shadow, I have a pointing lab and 2 GSP's. We went out today and saw more birds. We made several passes accross the big CRP WIHA's and ended with 7 legitimate shot opportunities. The boys both got excited and missed 3, and dad and I got 4 shots 3 kills. Dad is getting older and his...

    Come on liberal, be kind!!!

I guess so. We knocked on a door and got the access. The place does not look like it has been shot up (shells, tracks) but I guess maybe it has. Oh well, we still have tomorrow and it sure beats working. We will keep trying.

    Come on liberal, be kind!!!

Man, hunted private Crp corners on corn circles for the past 2 days with my dad, 2 sons, and 2 dogs and have flat not seen anything. We are experienced hunters and I just can't figure it out. HELP!!!

    Where to go

I hate big groups as well. I will take some advice here and apply it on my next hunt. The only noise I can't control is my heavy breathing as I push through all that CRP. Cheers!

    Gettin' the heck outa Dodge!!

I agree 100% in all ways. My family and I own quite a bit of property here in Texas, and I have always taught my boys the respect and work ethic necessary to peruse and hunt game. While we can certainly afford to pay a guide to put us on birds, I do not agree with walking huge kill lines with...

    Where to go

I tried that this week as well (with 3 hunters 2 dogs) and we still had a hard time flushing them up. It seems as though those guys would run like a stuck hog. How did you keep em' from running without some type of block?

    Gettin' the heck outa Dodge!!

Thank you guys for all the feedback. I could not believe how it could be that bad. After reading this and the experience gained from a LONG week, I have a better game plan for later this year. I will be bringing my two boys and my dad back. I am convinced we will do better. On a side note, I...

    Gettin' the heck outa Dodge!!

We Hunted north to jetmore, west past Cimarron, South to Minneola, east to Kinsley. I'm stumped. We have been on great areas, but just have not seen any type of Kansas numbers I remember as a kid. The walk in areas appear to have had little pressure, so I don't think that is the problem. Any...

    Gettin' the heck outa Dodge!!

Man, we have hunted WIHA areas within 30 miles all around the Dodge area this week and we have been having a terrible time getting on birds. I usually drive up to South D., or Neb., but I hunted Liberal and Texhoma when I was younger and never had this kind of trouble. We have seen NO hunters...
