    2020/2021 Pheasant Phorcast

Hello boys and girls, welcome to Uncle Sig_Mech’s pre-season Pheasant Phorcast for early 2020/2021. I recently returned from my annual pre-season scouting trip to NE Colorado or as I like to call it: My Shaking Hands and Checking Lands World Tour 2020. Pay attention now ‘cause I’m gonna give...

    Question

Hey Walk, how ya doin’ my friend? According to CPW and what I have learned from being a part of PF I can tell you that properties are scouted and enrolled by CPW for a variety of different reason. As stated in a previous post some are enrolled access to adjoining properties while others are...

    Is this really a "double"???

Whether or not you, or anyone else considers this a double is nothing more than semantics. What I would like to commend you on is being a conscientious hunter and tracking down that second bird, you did the right thing and I salute you for it. Thank you!

    Pheasant Scouting Report

Took a run out to eastern Colorado this past Saturday to scout some of my favorite areas and things look good. A lot of CRP was lost due to Farm Bill requirements but with the help of the PF C4C program some of this loss has been offset. There was a ton of corn still standing so hunting the...

What to do when there is no hunting?

Hey Kiva, nice pup there. Glad to see he's all healed up. Like you, I try to get out on a long walk daily with my boy Duke. I bring along a scented dummy and a whistle and use the time to constantly enforce both whistle and verbal commands. Its a great way to keep my dog in shape and to meet...

    Spring Turkey

Hey Bigredgolf, did you draw or go OTC? Lots of good places around the state to bag a gobbler and its great to see their numbers really improving. What area (approximately) are you heading to?

Hard times in the land of plenty....

Hey Tom, Yeah, I sure did. Oakley my 12yr old black lab is retired now and I picked up Duke my 2yr old yellow lab on Thanksgiving of 2017. I was looking for a pointing lab and Advantage Pointing Labs came highly recommended to me, they are located in Yuma, Co and Francis, the owner, is a...

Hard times in the land of plenty....

…..some have it all and the rest ain’t got any. Bonus points to you if you know what artist did this song without Googling it. Up early this past Wednesday (12/12) and heading out to Y Town again. Stuck in traffic on 225 again, when will I learn? There’s a good chill in the air and a nice...

    Any new reports??

Nice job Chief. Dogs are looking good too. Yeah I still hunt my usual spots but I've been hitting more of the out of the way WIA's and some of the PF corners.

    Any new reports??

A bad day hunting is better than a good day at work. Actually FeasantPhever that's my boy Duke. Yes, I do most of my hunting on land north of Yuma and with Pheasants Forever putting in more corners every year, the opportunities are getting better and better. I prefer a good wind blowing but 50...

    Any new reports??

The birds are back in town! Wednesday morning, 7am, and I'm sitting in traffic on 225. Gawd! I hate this road. Two and a half hours later and I pull up to my first field only to find two good friends walking out of it. Duke and I jump out of the truck and meet up with J and his new GSP pup...

    Any new reports??

Hunted in Yuma area. Lots of good WIA's in the north side of town, you just have to burn a lot of boot leather and don't be afraid to walk any area that you think may hold birds.
