    Dog went into heat Sunday!!!!!

Well that is all fine and dandy when you are hunting on private land. Most of us hunt public where OUR control osn't the issue. Ever return to your truck and some A hole with no control over his dog is loafing around? JMHO based on fact and expirience.

    Dog went into heat Sunday!!!!!

A bitch in heat is a bitch in heat. Best to leave her home and hunt her later in the year. Frastratin when it happens but it us the right thing to do. Just think how upset you'll be if you find her accidentally locked up with a male, let alone a different breed.

    Right around the corner!

Pheasant season is coming up soon! This off season I put a senior hunter title on my go to guy and a couple junior hunter passes on my young up and coming dog, both labs. Monday we are hitting the preserve for a warm up/refresher on some birds. With the first 12 days of season off I hope to...

Flushing Lab Running on Late Season Running birds

During the off season work on thar whistle sit. Once you get 100% on that you can convert to either the tone or vibrate on the collar. Don't use a correction with the collar unless you know the dog is %100 on the whistle sit. You won't want the wrong association made between ignoring the whistle...

rookie looking for most efificent training info

I agree you would like a pointing lab. Also agree with the pointing retriever book suggested. Another good method is the silent command system. I breed a few litters of points g labs and train quote a few dogs per year. A well trained pointing lab is an amazing hinting companion.

    Fall can't come fast enough

I got a couple more hunt tests to run this year and then doing some upland work to get ready to cure thar itch! Looks we have a good waterfowl population this year so that will tide me over until October. Seeing plenty of pheasants all over and surprised at the number of woodcock this year. I...

    Fall can't come fast enough

I always seem to fall back on my ol' reliable 870 Wingmaster. I might have to pick up a second as a back up.

    Fall can't come fast enough

It's barely august and I can't wait to get the dogs out on some roosters. I made my plans for the annual trip to South Dakota and will hunt here in MN the opening weekend. Kind of nice to start off hunting 7 days in a row. Anyone dying from the anticipation?

I have a litter of black and yellow labs. Both parents are level headed but have sn intense prey drive. Sire is a pointing lab with a JH title on him. He will be running in the APLA this fall. He is a very well accomplished hunting dog with a pedigree loaded with grand master pointing...
