    What makes it “public” ??

Probably cleanouts from grain bins, feed bunks, etc.

Pheasants Forever- SCAM or do they help upland hunters?

DU does that literally every day. Very little DU owned property gets turned into public access. Most is restored, has easements placed on it, and sold. Both organizations main goals are habitat above all else.

    Fiberoptic sight

I shoot the hooded fiber sight that forces you to have your stock mounted correctly to see the color of the pipe.

    Snow

rain actually knocked back quite a bit of the snow we had here in southeast SD. buddy said the birds had fed much closer to his farm last night vs. having to fly out further to the wind swept hill tops.

    Cattle

Be sure to mention that to any producers you might ask permission from.

Pheasants Forever- SCAM or do they help upland hunters?

I think a lot of the "new" access tends to be in the form of the CREP program; which PATH has helped to incentivize certain land owners to enroll larger blocks of acreage rather than just square off wetland areas. One thing to remember, SD GFP doesn't secure walk-in access for just upland bird...

Pheasants Forever- SCAM or do they help upland hunters?

LOL you better not hunt any PATH ground or one of the numerous GPAs purchased, restored, & donated by PF here in SD then. I mean those properties & programs only account for around 70,000 acres of access in SD, so I'm sure none of them produce any birds for the vests. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Guys are starting to poke around with ice fishing gear; but we all know there can be 6"-7" of ice on lakes and some cattail areas can still be insulated enough to provide some wet boots.

What’s farmland selling for in your area(s)?

I'd assume residential (acreages) looking at google earth; no idea what zoning is like or the process to propose a zoning change in that county.

What’s farmland selling for in your area(s)?

That one carried a premium since it has development value due to it's close proximity to town. One of my customers bid on that piece.

Grass took a beating from north central SD across into western MN. Cattails and thick willows/cedars is where the birds are. And water in the cattails is not very frozen yet. Hopefully as this week progresses that changes.
