    Why Pointing Labs?

In 1983 I was jogging down a street in Ephrata, WA at the end of town by a school when a black lab female ran with me. Just off the side of the road the dog locked up raising her right back leg. I stopped and a hen with chicks flushed. That was more than 20 years ago. Why a pointing lab...

    speed kills

I like the pheasants forever 1 1/8 ounce 1,500 fps. Could be psychological. I fell into the faster is better mentality. I remember hunting a few years ago and my friends brother was shooting 1 1/2 ounce 3" mag shells. They didn't help him. I bought a fancy choke in improved cylinder and that...

    speed kills

If I did the math right, a bird crossing 30 yards out, estimated moving at 30 mph: shot moving at 1,500 fps would gain 8 inches on shot moving at 1,200 fps. Here's the question, would that make much of a difference? Seems like sometimes I get behind a bird and can't catch up. Also, since...

    The struggling farmer...2013 farm bill

It's a free country. Go rent a 1,000 acres and spend $300.00/acre to plant it and hope it rains, and not too much. 49 million Americans on food stamps. Go to ewg.org and see what subsidy any farmer in the U.S. collected in the last 10 years, it's staggering. People with money in the stock market...

    Nov. 1 st hunt

Definitely wild birds. Yeah we have pitiful bird numbers. Ther s a few out there. I have 2 young dogs I need to get going. Pheasant habitat in Ohio is much more difficult to hunt than those wispy brome grass fields back west(except cattails they are difficult). My old dogs couldn t cut it.

    Nov. 1 st hunt

I hunted for 4 hours jumped 2 roosters and 2 hens and bagged a young rooster. The cover is heavy do to lots of rain this summer. My dogs are old 11 and 11.5 years old. They hunted poorly. They acted birdy but didn t follow up. I hunted the Circleville area.

    5 Million $$$$$$$$

That would be like selling your soul to the devil. If I gave up my guns and dogs for $ you might as well call me a socialist/communist. Happy safe hunting.

How about a 2 bird limit???

I answered the post's question- Bird limits won't be changed because it helps to bring in nonresident dollars. One giy out of a million runs dogs and shoots blanks and suddenly I'm the bad guy. You 2 are unreasonable. Besides, I enjoy eating pheasant and haven't figured out how to do that...

How about a 2 bird limit???

I didn't realize how common it was for a hunter to carry blanks. When I heard shots I figured the shotshells the hunters were using had pellets in them. No reason to drop limits since a lot of guys are using blanks.

How about a 2 bird limit???

+1. A number of factors determine where I will travel to, but the limit is not one of them. Why carry a shotgun? Every time you shoot a bird there will be less birds for your dog to point. Carry a camera. If a dog points/flushes a rooster I think most people will shoot at it. The larger the...

How about a 2 bird limit???

Is it really that much about the killin'? That's why pheasant hunters are not flocking to IA,IN,IL,OH,MN,MO. They built a Cabela's in Mitchell,SD. If I'm driving a thousand miles and I can shoot 4 birds in one state and 3 in another and populations, public ground, and pressure is equal, I'm...

How about a 2 bird limit???

Lower the limit and you'll get less nonresident pheaseant hunters. Restrict opening week to residents only and you'll get less nonresident hunters. That will put a dent in F&G's budget.
