I live in Albuquerque. I've heard the SE area is pretty good for scaled quail. They got a lot of moisture this year and last. hope someone can confirm that.

UHHHHH...fire? I don't think so. Britboy--you just want to keep them all to yourself! Word from Kansas is there are a lot of birds this year and that includes right up to the southwestern edge of Kansas. I don't believe all the birds are holding just on the other side of the line!

If you see any pheasants when you are out dove hunting would you please report it back here. I know the NE has a lot of birds this year and I've seen the rains go through the SE Corner on a fairly regular basis so I'm wondering what the conditions there are like. Thanks

Where have you been scouting? They are down low in summer and migrate UP slope in the fall which is when most hunters encounter them. You won't find them in August where you'll find them in September.

My thoughts are that last year was pretty good in some areas with plenty of cover left for nesting. I also think the wet weather has been around since April so I think there's been enough time for other nesting areas to develop. But most importantly, I think good cover provides more chances to...
