    Citori OU 20 Question

Does the cocking lever sit to right of center when closed? If it goes passed the center and actually points left then this gun has seen many rounds. Citoris are solid guns as a rule.

16 gauge what a Pheasant round

I added another 16g to the lineup this winter. A JP Sauer Royal SxS. It has 27.5" bbls and Imp/Mod chokes. Love the thing. Now have 3 sixteen gauges, yeah you could say I'm a fan of the classic 16g.

Looking for any general handling advice for Hunt Test

Pay attention to wind direction. Too many ignore this and allow the dog to run upwind which can result in bumped birds. I carry a small squeeze bottle of talcum powder that they sell in bowhunting shops. A quick squeeze gives you a good feel for winds and you can make it work for you.

    Quailty birddogs, breeding or training?

My dog has quite a bit of FC in his pedigree and will motor in open spaces but closes in very nicely in tight grouse and woodcock cover. Works for me.

    Double gun choke tube configuration

I hunt over a Britt so shots are close. My 16g O/U is choked SK/IC most times. I shoot 1 1/8 #6. For Woodcock I choke at SK/SK and shoot #8 shot.

    Winchester model 101 field?

Nice gun. The new ones are Belgium made but for some reason they seem rare in gunshops.

    Raw food

Not sure how you would be able to accurately know what nutrients are in the raw and in what quantities. The guaranteed analysis in dry kibble supplies me that information. I supplement with meat but the dog eats a quality kibble.

16 gauge what a Pheasant round

I love my Feather Lightning with 28" barrels for pheasant. I just picked up a well used AYA SxS with 25" Cyl/Cyl barrels which will be a good woodcock jungle rainy day gun. I also have found that pheasants are stone dead in the air when hit with a 1 1/8oz load of #6's.

    Beepers or bells?

I use both at the same time. I use a bell to keep track of him and set my Dogtra 2500 T&B to beep on point only. It also is nice having the e-collar on him in case I have to stop him from doing something he shouldn't like run trash for example.

    Personal Protection

Not trying to cause any trouble here and please don't misinterpret my question. As a Canadian I just don't have the right to carry wether open or concealed. Our laws are extremely prohibitive and the only place we can use one is at a registered range and the only time we may transport one is...

    Pointers and Flushers hunted together?

Hell we try and breed "bumping birds" out of our pointing dogs. Why would would I want to expose my Britt to behaviour I discourage? Not saying one is better than the other at all for hunting just can't see anything good coming of it for a pointing breed.

    Blaze Orange

Always a hat and a vest. I can't understand why someone would object to a safety measure? Couldn't care less what I look like when hunting although many do.

    Ruger broken again

Call me finicky but that is one failure too many. I would be dumping that gun.

advice for new semi automatic shot gun

The early Remingtons were great guns. The 870 and 1100 were excellent value but I have owned newer 870's an 11-87 and right now have to return a brand new 7600 because the barrel actually flops around due to poor QC. I will likely never buy another "new" Remington product. An 1100 would...
