Here's some taxidermy to gawk at...

Just finished competing at this years taxidermy competition here in Utah. Here's the stuff I had in the show. I won top honors with the pheasant as he was the highest scoring bird in the show and ended up winning me a new shotgun. :D The other pieces did well too and all took home blue ribbons...

    TAK's Dog Tribute

My good friend Tom lost his five year old shorthair two years ago. It was a really crappy deal as she was about to whelp a litter of pups and the heating blanket she was laying on to stay warm in the garage shorted out and burned the house down along with her and all his taxidermy. I told him...

Nice Setters. They really are beautiful dogs on point. Here's a picture of my sons setter. She epitomizes the setter grace and elegance they're known for. Here's my GWP Heidi with a very regal up headed point. Now back to some GWP's with intensity to spare... Heck while we're at it, lets...

Exactly. See, this is the way I like to see a dog point. No matter the situation, when the dog hits the scent cone, it points. Which to me means it stops dead in it's tracks in what ever stance/ posture it happens to be in at the time. I also like a dog that intensifies after the initial point...

Naa, not much... By the way, what it it about the misconception that a dog has to be standing on his tip-toes with a 12 O'Clock tail and his nose pointing at the clouds to have style? I dont get it... What say you all?

    Turkeys are kinda like pheasants...

Least every time my dog points one while hunting pheasants they always seem to flush just as hard and about as fast! Just finished this big Kansas bird for a client. Enjoy.

One test down, two to go...

Thanks! He did have a great day, and may be did a little showing off... When he was out on his search he pointed two meadowlarks. One had to be 40 yards away on a nest. The other one flushed at about twenty yards and he just stood there pretty as you please and watched it fly off...

Well, my pups VJP is in the books. Next we start training for the HZP in Sept. I couldn't be more proud of him he scored all 11's in nose, pointing, tracking, cooperation, and search to score a 77.
