A couple unknown disturbing Setter problems

Why is what her tail is doing when she is on point a problem? All dogs are different maybe she is using it as a cue that you have not picked up on? If she will point and hold like that I personally wouldnt care if her tail is going in circles. As far as the retrieving maybe she wasnt force...

    Varmint guns

I shoot a Winchester model 70 Coyote in 22-250 and I love it, for a box gun it is a tack driver. Have shot alot of prairie dogs and coyotes over the years with it. I do not shoot prairie dogs anymore so if I was to do it again I would probably get it in a .243 then I could use it for antelope...

    Sunflower field

They love sunflowers they are high in fat and thats what the birds need before winter. Let it be known that a sunflower stock will go through a tractor tire so it can mess a dog up pretty bad. Hunt the grass edges and the fields near by, you will find plenty of birds without having to go into...

    2 bad 2 sad

GOOD I hope they tell all of their friends and the message keeps getting passed along how lowsy of a state I live in. That means more birds for me and all of the other hunters that are respectful. They are obviously hunting for the wrong reasons. Some people think that the size of their...

    10 Month Old French Brittany

Actually in the Frenchies I have noticed the complete opposite, the males are hunting very well by 6 months and it takes the females some time to get going. I have seen a couple of dogs that showed absolutally no interest in birds until after a year. They were both from the same kennel one was...

Pheasant strategies for solo pheasant hunts

The best advice that has already given in this thread is to TRUST THE DOG. I always tell people that hunt with me and have not learned this valuable lesson that when they can smell and point a rooster for me I will listen to them. I often have a talk with the dog before we go afield in these...

    Skunk Spray Antedote

You guys arent adding water to the solution are you? I mix it straight up and make alot of it and it works awesome for me. I have had him take a blast from a couple of feet, he was so bad that I could smell him upwind and the wind was blowing 20+ mph. After washing him I was able to let him...

    Opener ???

I hunted west of Bismarck for the opener and we did good (got 22 for the weekend) birds seemed to be in pockets. Either you found them or you didnt either way the numbers are down and we are all gonna have to put on some miles to find birds. On the plus side the sloughs are all full so do not...

My Dog's Purdier 'en Your Dog - WITH NEW AND IMPROVED STANDING DOG PIC!!

I know a gentleman that has one of Marks dogs, she is still a pup but we will see how she turns out. So far though I have had incredible success with Phils dog and have also helped him with a few training sessions and his dogs have more natural instinct than I have ever seen. My theory is if...

My Dog's Purdier 'en Your Dog - WITH NEW AND IMPROVED STANDING DOG PIC!!

I absolutaly love Britts but I choose to have the ones of the French Variety. Apparently I am not computer saavy enought to shrink the pictures down to post them but I have some in my profile if you want to see a couple that are other than orange and white. The dogs and I are starting to get...

    English Pointers

It seems as though size is the main concern so why not look at a breed that typically runs on the lighter side. I have French Britts one is 32 lbs and one is a small 47 lbs. They are light shedders and a joy in the house. One of them is cool calm and loves to cuddle yet hunts real good. The...

    hip dysplasia

How about adequan injections, I have seen it work wonders in dogs with bad hips. I use it once every two months during the off season and every month during hunting season just because. Its a little spendy but what the heck the dogs are worth it in my opinion.

    Diesel Gelling

I would just use the Power Service anti gel additive when you know it is going to get real cold and you should be fine then, if it works for us it will surely work for you:) When is the last time you changed your fuel filters, maybe you have some moisture built up in them?
