I managed two roosters and a bobwhite Wednesday in SE CO. Better shooting and I would have had a limit of roosters.

Managed a limit on closing day. They were up high in the snow. Creed sure loves hunting in the snow.

Friday morning, 10/24/25, revealed no grouse and more snow than expected in the high country between Steamboat and Walden.

I’ll be headed to ND next week to chase sharpies for a few days before the NR duck opener.

Trying to decide between youth waterfowl and dusky grouse hunting this weekend. Would definitely be youth waterfowl but for the boys poor behavior that may have cost him that privilege.

We’ve been getting a lot of rain up here the last few weeks. Not great for bird hunting but we need the precipitation.

Winchester model 12 in 16 gauge. I live and hunt in NW CO.

3.5 hours in supposed sharptail country this morning did not reveal a single flush. I’m over chasing CO sharptails. May try for some dusky grouse tomorrow.

It’s a short season, only 7 days but all you need is a small game license and new this year, a $5 Sage grouse/sharptail grouse/ptarmigan permit.

Who else is gonna be out tomorrow for the Sage grouse opener? I should have killed a limit opening day last year but poor shooting did me in. Hopefully I find a lot of birds again tomorrow and shoot better too!
