We hunt them with 20 gauge's with Improved Cylinder Hevi Shot Pheasant 20 gauge 2 3/4" 6's. I absolutely love the 6's and being able to use the 20 gauge is super fun.
Than are not Hero Shots if you use a high quality shell. The Hevishot Bismuth Upland is what our club has gone too. They are great for older shotguns and the range combined with the energy they hit with is a lethal combination. I prefer to use to my 12 gauge but often switch to my 20 gauge...
I like a mod or IC depending on the conditions but think that the
Hevishot Hevi Bismuth is absolutely the best upland load that
I have ever used. They are what truly "pummel's" pheasants.
yeah, it costs more but I don't shoot as many shells when using it
I just bought some more of the Hevi Bismuth to use shooting woodies
next week
I am excited to be able to use the old Winchester 20 gauge that was
handed down to me with the Hevi Bismuth
I will let you guys know how it does
I used the Hevishot Mid Range choke in my Beretta while pheasant
hunting in Kansas. I use the same choke in my waterfowl A400 for
decoying ducks. I love the Hevishot chokes as well as the ammo
Thx Tbear but after what I saw from the Hevi Bismuth, I am sticking with those
I just could not believe how cleanly I was able to take the flushing roosters
even out to longer ranges. We did not lose a single bird which is huge for us
Never heard of BOSS. I like the fact that the Hevi Bismuth is easier on older shotguns
as well. I have an old Browning my Papa gave me that I would like to shoot quail with
so the Bismuth should be awesome for it
Our group shot Hevi-Bismuth Waterfowl shells (while pheasant hunting) 3" 6's
and we wore them out. We did not lose one rooster
I am going to try them duck hunting in Nov.
I have several hunting pals that have gone to smaller gauge guns. They have all opted for
higher end shells to make up the difference. I picked up a Beretta O/U 20 gauge and
some 20 gauge HEVI BISMUTH.
So many hunters do not realize that NON-toxic loads are required on most if not all
Federal hunting land. I switched to Hevishot years ago and have used nothing
but Hevishot since. I find that the range, knockdown power are unmatched + they
are non-toxic
I agree Dakota. Hevishot has a new upland Bismuth shell that I am going to use this FALL in the Dakotas. The higher quality shells
do perform better despite what some might have you believe
