Changing fixed chokes on a 16 ga.

Orlen will also advise on whether the idea is a sound one once he measures the barrel(s). He changed the modified choke to improved in the right barrel of a 12 Sauer for me. I had the left slightly opened to .030 considering that one can always remove more...later. Deciding what loads will be...

Input on reliable, double trigger, auto safety

Yes, safety arises best from the individual, not from any patent.

Input on reliable, double trigger, auto safety

Yes....staying within the limits of choice and establishing limits for use. That was my point. The issue becomes problematic when someone reads message board suggestions and seeks to use any gauge based solely upon the gauge or another's anecdotes. Bad juju that. Otherwise, not much won't work...

The shooter, the choke, the load, the distance, the conditions and the decision to tap or not all determine whether a gauge is sufficient for pheasant....or insufficient.

NPR Weighs in on Upland Habitat

Habitat loss and degradation is hardly new information especially as it applies to the popular prairie areas...let's see if NPR "weighs in" on the poor management of our national forests and the resulting decline evident there for 40, 50 years or so. They may have missed that....or chose not to...

    Dog breed question

I'm not a Generalist.....English setter for upland birds. If I was...I'd go Lab. No interest at all in fur....but, then again, a beagle might be nice re rabbits or a mountain cur for squirrels.

Which is easier to point, Quail or Pheasant?

Equal or either...all in the particulars.

    A ? for pheasant pluckers

A judicious use of a propane torch...or the equivalent in lesser oomph.

Sometimes, one simply smiles. I recall that MM and Trevallion were supposedly chased off by a broom-wielding Olga over there.

The "Flush" wins Golden Moose award as best bird hunting show

The show often appears geared to the skirmish line....perhaps that accounts for it's popularity in the voting.

Mountain pheasant was often the sobriquet in days past.

    By the grace

Since there appeared to never have been a post in this section, here is a thumbs up to West, by the grace of God, Virginia and the ruffed grouse hunting which in many ways defined Best in the early portion of the previous century. A shame that those days exist only in the record.

    Gov't bussiness?

Gov't set-asides are not about hunting, nor should they be. That is simply a plus where it exists. If a farmer wishes to increase his return on the set-asides, fine...if not, fine as well. The Public receives benefits from the set-asides either way and well independent of hunting access. Hunters...

Best all around choke constriction for pheasant

I would guess that trial shooters are often some of the best shooters who, like good SC shooters, see enough birds and angles to do the math well in placing pattern upon bird, or clay. The problem with mentioning 40-60 yards shots in field trials is that folks on public message boards can...
