Molly, a new dog, and I will be heading our locally on Saturday. Sunday will be on private ground out west.

I was thinking of picking one of these up with two collars. The dogs normally stay pretty close, but we hunt some think stuff. I think the peace of mind that the tracker would provide sounds good. Any thoughts?

I took Molly out yesterday around noon. We hunted for a few hours. Found two big coveys of quail. Started hunting singles, but Molly kept busting them. We got three, and as we hunted back to the truck, she pointed a rooster 20 yards from the truck. Brought him home too.

Pretty much what you said. I hunt with a guy that is pretty slow to shoot as well and try to have him on the birds, if possible. When sent into a point, that person gets first crack, I will often take a shot after the first miss.

Walked 5 miles on Saturday. Three people and the dog. Say 7 roosters, a handful of hens, and two coveys of quail. Took one rooster and a quail. The birds were not holding and were flushing wild out of range. Warm and dry. We got checked by a Game Warden. Nice gal, she said she was seeing...

Same here. Pick them up when I see them, along with whatever trash I stumble across.

5 gallons of water, come-a-long, tow straps and chain (never know how far it will be to a solid anchor for the come-a-long),chains for all four tires, a shovel, 550 cord, and cold weather gear, along with the normal day trip food/drinks and hunting gear.
