    Hunting Miller area 20-24?

We had plans of about 6 guys and 4 dogs hunting the Miller area on some private land. We are down roughly 3 guys for most of the trip. If anybody is around that area in interested in learning more, PM me.

    Heading to SD Wed night

Bought off a farm in Albany. Mom was a farm dog, dad was from a family friend who studded him out for free du to the family connection. Pictures of the dad were all from pheasant hunting. Nothing award winning, but should be able hunt at least as well as I shoot. Well see next weekend. She...

    Heading to SD Wed night

I'm heading out to hunt 10k acres of private land near Miller SD on Wed night. I'm excited to get my new golden some work. Any reports from central MN? I might get out this evening if I can convince the wife. I've heard shots already this morning.

The Gun Reports are coming in.....

Father-in-law is hunting Miller (were I'll be Thursday ), they had a group of 20+ guys and got about 36 roosters. He said they were hard to find, but having good dogs saved em. My brother and dad are hunting Mobridge. They got about 25 roosters for a party of about 15. He said they say about...

    Mid-December hunt, Late Season advice?

We hunted with 3 guys and a dog last December. We approached it more like road hunting and drove in the car from likely location to likely location. We hit some trees and cattails, but also pushed some fence lines and a creek bottom. We had permission to hunt private, so that helped as we knew...

    Mid-December hunt, Late Season advice?

Actually, if you knock on doors and ask, most farmers are more likely to let you hunt for free that late in the season. We hunt in late December on family land when we go to the in-laws for Christmas. It is a different kind of hunt, but finding likely locations is pretty easy and when you find...

    Chippewa NF Grouse

Good to know. The other dog is a good pointer and loves birds. He isn't great for finding downed birds. We may have to alternate fields or keep them on opposite ends of the line.

    Chippewa NF Grouse

I hunted a bit this weekend in the Chippewa National Forest. Kicked one up on the road about 35 yards ahead of me and the dogs. Then, on a AM walk without my shotgun, kicked up a Ruffed Grouse that would have been a sure shot. It was fun to see my 10 month old Golden Retriever get very excited...

    Suggestions for Central MN (Stearns)?

Actually, I looked at my dates wrong, I should be around for the opener. I'll keep in touch with you. I have a Baptism where I have to play Godfather, but I should be able to get in an AM or a PM one day that weekend.

    Suggestions for Central MN (Stearns)?

Yeah I'd be up for that, but I'll actually be hunting one of my 5-day hunts in SD that weekend. If it's ever worth going out later in the season I'd be interested.

    Suggestions for Central MN (Stearns)?

Thanks. I guess I'll get my pheasant tag and give it a few tries. I'm mostly looking to get the dog work and speed up the learning process. If anyone wants to run a field together let me know.

    Don't know what to think.

Early this summer, say about mid-July, we were down for a wedding reception. The farmer where we hunt was there. He said he thought it would be a great year. He hadn't hit a pheasant with his truck in over 10 years, and nailed three of them in one day. He said they were seeing them a lot. Not...

    Suggestions for Central MN (Stearns)?

I regularly hunt Central South Dakota with my in-laws each year for Pheasants. My Jack Russel died last Thanksgiving and we have since picked up a Golden Retriever. She will be about 1 when we go out to South Dakota in October, but I am looking to get her some extra time on birds/fields this...
