    Drought of 2011/2012

Does anyone have any info on the effects of the drought they had in the southwest the last year or two? I would imagine it was real hard on the birds. For years I have been contemplating a pheasant/quail hunt in Texas or Mexico, but I want to make sure I go when the bird numbers are up. If the...

Thanks for the responses, Guys. I definitely noticed the group builder sub-forum; it's one of the main reasons I decided to join this forum. It seems like most of the other hunting forums that I have visited are just all about mundane chatter - you know, "What's your favorite caliber?" and such...

Hunting Around Conibear Traps and Snares

Maybe I'm naive, but what are these traps doing out there? Are they to catch coyotes? They certainly aren't going to catch any beavers out on the prairie. And if they are for coyotes, aren't there any regulations regarding where you trap and where you can hunt birds in order to keep the two out...

    SD outfitters

I've been browsing the featured South Dakota outfitters on this site, and they all seem pretty impressive. Do any of you have 1st hand experience with any of them? Is there one in particular you can recommend? Naturally, you will want to be discreet about your comments so as not to offend the...

    Dream hunt

I second what Quail Hound said - quail, if they are wild and in good numbers. Mind you, wild bobwhites fly like they're shot out of a cannon. They make pheasants seem easy. But it is hard to beat the beauty (and size) of a rooster ringneck.

    Hello from Missouri

Thanks for the welcome, guys. I live in St. Louis but I do get down to Springfield occasionally. I'll be sure to touch base if hunting season finds me headed that way!

    Hello from Missouri

Hi folks, I'm really glad to find this forum. Seems like most of the hunting forums on the web are for big game fanatics, so its refreshing to be able to share thoughts and information with fellow bird hunters. I look forward to joining the conversation and possibly even hunting with some of...

Good to see another Missourian on the forum. Beautiful brittanies you have there. My first pooch was a brittany; they will always have a special place in my heart.
