    Party hunting pheasants in Iowa?

I see nothing wrong with large groups hunting pheasant in wide-open grain fields as long as the group understands the plan and the safety concerns. And I am against using alcohol during the hunt but I am curious as to how you would know that alcohol and unlicensed hunters were in the group...

    How’d everyone do?

Where we hunt, super dry conditions in mid summer through late fall resulted in very few birds. 960 acres of CRP, two trips, one rooster, one shot opportunity. Goat heads and burrs where they never were before. overall, the worst I have seen in 10 years.

Another Day, A Few Shots, One Bird

Very nice. Hard to see the bird but the dog had no trouble finding it :)

    Prairie Chicken!

We flushed about 20 in range last season (January 2016) and couldn't figure out what the hell just happened. Luckily we did not shoot as season closes January 1...which by the way is a weird date to close the season, especially since the limit is 2 birds PER SEASON. Saw 5 fly over I-76 east of...

    Opener

Nice work. Hunted hard till about 2 PM and never shot my gun. Saw birds but they were wild as heck. Dogs had a tough time pinning them down in the dry, dusty conditions. Anyone who limited out did well IMO :)

    Opening Day

You took a 13 week old dog hunting on opening day? Seriously? IMO that's way too young to be taking a dog out on a live, wild bird hunt. Good luck.

Vet in the Centennial, CO area

I heard the snake bite shots do not work, from my yuppie urban vet. Don't know whether that is true but that's what I was told. I was also told by a lady, who coincidentally happened to be cleaning my teeth at the time, that she had a client tell her a few weeks before that he had two hunting...

Your take on a common shooting problem

Well that's not gonna work for me because I have a neck...and I shoot fine...not perfect but good enough to keep me happy.

Your take on a common shooting problem

Here are my thoughts... Been there, done that...it happens to all of us. Cold morning gun stock? Natural reaction is to not have cheek where it needs to be. This causes shot to go high... I agree on the lack of follow-through comments...shot goes behind... So, my solution to bad pheasant...

Will the snow put an end to sand burrs?

Yes, but did you get the bird...? Joking...glad you are OK...that's why I like my O/U...always looking in my barrels...easy, peasy...

Where oh where has all the WIA gone?

Maybe because Remington lost track of $32 million? That money could have bought a lot of WIA now couldn't it...?

Trapping and using Ringneck Dove for training

There never has been a season on collared dove in Colorado. Legal to shoot them year-round and it has been for as long as I can remember. Plus, they've been here forever...proof lies in their brief supporting role in Dances with Wolves...hahaha....:)
