I went out for a quick hunt on Sunday with the pup (9-11) and flushed up 6 hens and 1 rooster that guessed the wrong side to flush out of some thicket. We were hunting west of Hutch.

I hunted around Ortonville a couple weekends ago and I will not be going back any time soon. Lots of hunters and lots of hens. I was really amazed by how much private land is out there. If I make another drive it will be to southwest mn.

I hunted all day Saturday, Sunday and until noon on Monday with 2 friends. We shot 6 birds 3 Sat, 1 Sun and 2 Monday. We started hunting on our way to Ortonville on Saturday and spent all day in Ortonville on Sunday. All I can say about Ortonville is holy hens... Scared up at least 40 hens...

I know Sand pines and golden meadows are both open to anyone. I prefer the birds at golden meadows compared to sand pines. I plan to go there at least once or twice yet this year.
