Cherokee Park State Wildlife Area NW of Ft Collins...plenty of buzz tails there and lots of public land.

2 hunters, one lab, private ground in NW Kansas. We hunted all day on Saturday and each bagged a rooster....saw a fair number of birds. Hunted a different area 1/2 day on Sunday due to the heat...between us we bagged 6 roosters on Sunday....3 each.. for a weekend total of 8. All in all a good...

I have a 12ga. Browning Citori White Lightning that I use for wild pheasants. Have great success with Skeet/IC and #5 shot. I'll step down to #6 shot if there is a possibility of finding quail while pheasant hunting.

I shot one on a warm opening weekend of pheasant season in Cheyenne County a while back. Farmer I hunt on out there stepped on one and got bit a couple of years ago....it didn't rattle....at first he thought he got stung by a bee....then he saw the snake. They are around for sure.

East side of Lone Tree Reservoir has grass fields you can set up your decoys in. I have killed geese there as recently as last year.

In Colorado not all state owned land is open for hunting. In particular there are a lot of State School Trust lands that are shown on maps as state lands....many but not all of them are closed to access. BLM land in Colorado is federal and most all of it is open for access to hunting.

I hunted big game in 3 states this year, small game in 4 states and fished in 3 states. I had all of the correct licenses, tags and stamps required and I played by the rules. I resent the implication that out of staters do most of the poaching in Kansas. No doubt some from other states break the...

I'll be hunting in Area 99. I know a farmer who has irrigated corn next to the sand hills. Have taken some nice bucks out there.

I'm going, but not for pheasants. I have a plains deer license. Camping and staying out there until the season ends or I fill my tag. Hopefully I'll tag out early.....then I'll go chase roosters.

Double Trigger you are right on! I don't know where Retrvrman hunts, but I have seen plenty of work that has been done by PF out there in eastern Colorado. It's hard to drive far in Phillips, Yuma and Logan counties without encountering their good work. Many of their plantings are maturing...

Just got a call from one of my friends in NW Kansas. He just finished cutting his last 30 acres of irrigated corn and wanted me to know he saw quite a few pheasants. Did pretty well hunting around his place opening weekend, heading back out this week from here in Colorado to give it another go...

I shoot an O/U and prefer skeet and IC. If I use the skeet barrel I rarely need the second shot. However, if I could only have one barrel my choice would be IC.

Hunted NW Kansas solo with my lab. Hunted my usual spots, all on private land. Bagged 3 roosters on Saturday, 1 on Sunday and 2 on Monday. Saw a few birds everywhere I went but numbers are definitely way down from last year. Weekend hot weather was tough on the dog....it was nice on Monday...
