I have been told that others are seeing quail but I have not seen many so far this fall around the Pottawatomie Co area's. Your best bet would be to hunt the SE part of the State. Depending on your driving route, you may be able to hit some nice areas on the way into or out of the State.

I have been running the dog on public land in Pott County and she has put a lot of birds up. I will spend the opener close to home then head up north when things calm down.

My wife and I hunt that area several times a year. There is a some very good public areas but they do get some pressure. However, if you hunt slow and quiet you should have success. Do you already have motel reservations? If not, I know of a very nice hunter friendly motel. Good luck.
