I saw these roosters in northwestern Longmont, and remembered this thread. I'm not positive they're wild, they didn't act so afraid, but they were still gorgeous, of course.

A good place to start might be to get a Walk in Hunting atlas for Kansas and Colorado. I don't know what Nebraska has, but i'm sure they have something like that. Also look for a State Wildlife Area atlas for Colorado. Another good idea might be to go around wherever there's good pheasant...

This might be a stupid question, but I can't find the answer anywhere on the Internet. Are all state owned lands public, or no? I found a map online that shows all the state owned land in Colorado and it would seem that if it's owned by the BLM then it is okay to hunt. Is all state owned land...

My English pointer loves the cold, windy, snowy conditions (at least she acts like she does). But i think it's more of a personal preference. I also think when you have as few birds as Colorado does this year, you need all the help you can get, and that kind of weather really makes it easier to...
