Confused Newbie on Beretta A300 Model To Choose

I used to always turkey hunted with a "regular" length barrel (26" or 28") and used the same gun for ducks, deer, upland birds. It never bothered me that the barrel was not extra short. If you got the short turkey model, you probably wouldn't notice the short barrel in any hunting situation...

    Checking In

My son and I got out for a couple hours, cover was very thick/tall and frosty where we were. Crops still in the fields too. Just saw got up two hens no roosters this time. Good to get the dog out, she loved it!

    Iowa Huns

1988 was the last time we shot a Hun in eastern Iowa (Cedar Co.), though I have seen them since. They were just a bonus for the good pheasant numbers back then.

    first hunt of 2017

This is Abbie's second season. She's a French Brittany (Epagnuel Breton) and full of fire and intensity when we're out after birds. She still has a lot to learning Scott County isn't exactly a pheasant paradise.... We do know enough to follow her when she's on a bird though. The shotgun is...

    first hunt of 2017

Didn't get out all that much this season, but went one more time on the 2nd of January. We finally got that smart old rooster who had escaped us several times this season... Good job Abbie!

    the opener looks,,,GRRRRR

I would really like it cooler, but it is what it is. I'll just take it slower, the dog won't..., and rest/shorten the day. I do remember years back it hit 85 on opening day (it was in the 1970's). We (four of us) got our limits that day over a pair of Brittany's. Just glad to get out with...

2015-16 Rooster Photo Roundup - Photo Contest

Abbie's first year Sometimes I just carried a camera to get the intensity and fun of hunting with our Epagneul Breton, Abbie Joie. We only hunted locally in eastern Iowa this year, but it was a good season. She's off and running.... A point! Fun in the snow... ...but still all business...

Lets See Your Dogs..post some pic's

Out Epagneul Breton, Abbie Joie out for a last romp with the pheasants in the snow. She did real good this first year. Still has a lot to learn, but she sure is eager to "get them pheasants"!

    One winged rooster???

My son and I hit the farm one last time for the season. I carried a camera he carried his shotgun, Abbie did the finding/pointing. It's not a big farm, but did still have a couple of roosters. Abbie locked up on a very tight point and I walked in, stomped around and reached down into the snow...

    Last week of 2015

Nice results from a hard hunt and pics too. I like your vehicle and dog box topper. I have an 07 Tacoma TRD (same red color). You don't happen to have plans for your topper??

Quick morning hunt after the snow

Nice going! Not many days left now. We got a lot of ice here in Eastern Iowa (south of I-80) then some snow on top. Will wait one more day before trying to get out around here.

    Pheasant Calls

It may work in some situations, calm days early and late, but I've never tried it. They are sold (pheasant calls) on various web sights. (http://www.amazon.com/Primos-Hunting-Calls-342-Pheasant/dp/B003U5ZG3I)

Between the wind and the rain ...

Nice pics and hunt. Did your kids walk the whole way with you. I remember taking two of my kids a lot (1 boy 1 girl). Now the boy is all grown up and we hunt a lot together and sometimes with grandkids. We're not getting any snow here in the far east of Iowa, but we do have flood, tornado...

    Between the rains hunt...

Lots of rainy days lately and busy before Christmas too. Got out today with one son for a quick hunt at the home farm, haven't been there since deer season started. Abbie did pretty good, pointed three roosters and a couple hens. I think scenting conditions were ideal, one she followed quite...
