    bird stealers!!!

Sorry to hear that. I had a cooler stolen in Iowa years ago back when there were some birds in Iowa. They took the cooler our lunch for the week, soft drinks, and some beer. They swiped that out of the back of our truck while we were in the field. After that we always kept our trucks and...

    What choke do you use?

I am heading out this weekend for my first late season hunt and am debating between a full or a modified choke to start out with. I am going to use number 4 heavy load shell in a 12 guage. After patterning my gun I feel the modified shoots a more balanced pattern so I am leaning toward the...

    Smoking Pheasant

The juices and the wine have acid and will tenderize the bird along with vinnegar also terragon leaves will enhance the taste of any bird. A lot of times I work on my own recipe. Its always better to used moderation than too much. Also sassafras wood is a very good wood for smoking any bird.

I 2nd that poachers are not hunters but thieves that steal from all of us. It would be like calling a thief that broke into your home a visitor.

    Dog catches hen. Now what?

I saw a rooster do that once in Iowa it hit the power line in a farmers barn yard made a couple of flips around the wire and fell to the ground. The farmer then came over and chewed us out for shooting too close to his property. We told him we didn't shoot but I don't think he believed us or...

Kill a varmit, save a gamebird, and fur prices

I couldnt agree with you more habitat is the basis. Habitat with predator reduction provides outstanding hunting. Way too many predators out there.

    Control without the collar

I think this was very well put Mordis. I am not a fan of collar overuse. I too believe in training in the yard and the more you put into the dog the more you get out of it. With that being said and I know some breeds are worse than others I have yet to see a good bird dog or hound that isn't...

    Hunting in the rain

Do you all think it can rain too hard? I have hunted in light to moderate rain and have done some good but one day it poured all day long and I mean poured and we had a lousy day.
